Zip files & hdmp3 in edit list?

I am having problems with too many files in my edit list. Most are copies made with artist names reversed. Should they be all kmh for less memory? I just bought MTU laptop and wish to have both right and the same. Any help would be appreciated.

The KMH file is just a header file that points to the zip files. It does not contain any of the music or video information at all. So you need to have all of the files together in one location.

When you say artist name reversed do you mean second name, first name (Example Diamond, Neil) instead of Neil Diamond ?
That has always been Hosters recommended way of indexing songs, Trouble is not all manufacturers follow the same guide lines especially if buying from download sites.
Unfortunately there is not an easy way to alter this apart from manually editing songs in the edit dialog, there are some file naming programs available, a free one that I use myself is: http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php
Now it is possible with this program to bulk change names and reverse them. It means entering Regular expression codes in the first Match & Replace box. You may find it a bit daunting if you don't understand this code but I can guide you on entering the correct code, should you need it let me know.
You will need to decide from the outset if you want to use Hosters recommended naming format or use first name last name order.
This alters the original file name so the songs would have to be imported into Hoster after renaming the files.

Kmh files save you doubling up on your hard drive space. if you choose to import your files as kma it will create a complete new file about the same size as the original so it would be recommended to just keep the original file on a spare backup disc.
If you import them as KMH then it will just add a few bytes to each file in the header file that has to remain in the same folder as the original.
If you import any tracks straight from a regular CD+G disc, kma is the only option available but then the CD+G disc is your backup.

Thank you for helpful input. I had problems with install of new Hoster 5.9 and l ended up losing all my songs. Even my back up. However MTU came to the rescue and found a corrupt file and fixed problem. But since then after rebuild I have copies of the same song in my edit list but with different Type ending (Hdmp3) that I did not put there. These files also have the artist name reversed from my normal- Swift, Taylor to Taylor Swift. Also (but not a new problem) my ID #s are all over the place 101 to 3k then 5k's then 7k's. All are on hard drive, 1tb.
So, since I have just bought Mtu's laptop I was wondering the best way to Reorganize songs (yes and redo all my song books) so both are neat and clean. Thanks folks.

When you rebuild the database it builds it from the list of folders showing in the bottom left window.
If you have the folder listed there that had your original mp3+g files on that you imported as kma files then that is why you have these duplicate files showing.
So I'm assuming when you imported them as kma files you would have selected a folder just for those and the original files would still be in their own folder.

If you look down the list of folders try and determine which is the folder you imported the kma to, then select the other or others and choose the Exclude folder button, this will remove all the songs in those folders from the database and also stop it re-listing those folders in the rebuild list.

If you make a mistake you can always remove them from the Excluded folders list and Re-Add to the rebuild list.

Alternatively If you recon all the HDMP3 are files that you did not intentionally import you could just delete those from the edit dialog.
To do this open the edit dialog and select multiples button, select all the top row for match items and karaoke for bottom type.
Enter the wild card character * in the Match window and press find, this will list all your karaoke types.
Now click on the header for Type, this will list them all in order of type, then select the first one in the list HDMP3 then scroll down to the last one of that type and use Shift+left click will select all of those songs, it may take a little time to highlight them all but once your happy the right songs are selected press delete.
One word of warning,doing it this way is not reversible.

I excluded folders from left on rebuild and went through rebuild and lost most of my kma’s to quarantine. rebuilt them back and now all songs have a different ID# than songbook. Guess I really will start from scratch when I import songs to new mtu laptop.:

Don't you have a backup copy anywhere of your original KMA files ?

If you do I would remove all folders from the rebuild list then rebuild the database so that you create an empty database. Then Add a copy of your kma backup folder to the list of folders first, then see if that matches your songbooks before Adding any other folders.

When you choose to rebuild the database in future be sure not to have any of the buttons selected in the top left panel "Song types to Index" because if it finds any files types in any of the folders in the list it will add those to the database as well which may be what's happened to you. With no types selected it will only look for previously indexed files.

Right now i am starting from scratch on the MTU laptop. I have copied All KMA from external to Windows7/Users/Public/MusicKMA which was the default so I used it. I then did Build Song Database and KMA's were installed. Seems to be like original. However, I see that after ID 37612 it jumps to ID 750101. (1) Since I am starting from scratch can I get the ID #'s to be consecutive? (2) In my external KMH file there are 3 filesCapture.JPG (Notice many sub-folder) Would it be better to copy 1, 2, or all three files to laptop to continue to Build Song Database? I still find this a little daunting even after all these years. (old-timers disease) When all is done I will reformat externals and copy the neater cleaner version Ps- anyone know what this is in recycle bin?Capture.JPG2.JPG

I'm afraid you can't alter a disc id or book id without reimporting from the original source. If they were originally imported from disc then you would have to reimport the disc from 750101 upwards again then you can give give it a number to follow on from 37612.

The 3 files are .cdg is the graphics part of the song, the.mp3 is the audio track, both of these files must remain together to play as karaoke. The .kmh file is the header with all the original data like book id and disc id and any other info you added at the time of originally importing them which has to be in the same folder as the other 2 files if you want to keep all the original data.
But I think in your case you may be better deleting the .kmh file and re-import all your mp3+g from scratch through the Menu Import Songs/Index song files dialog seeing as you originally had problems with them not being named correct. This way will allow you to monitor the imported tracks.
Also if you decided to re-import those kma above with a new lower # would stop any conflicts if the number that was imbedded in the kmh file was a follow on from the ID 37612 above.

The Bin files are uncompressed karaoke files. the 1kb ones probably corrupted as they are normally large files there are also a couple of text files there.
