You obviously play at much larger venue(s) than I do. When I have 20 singers, that is a very good night! My nights run 12-15 singers per night. I play in a small country bar... I did a private birthday tonight outdoors (very hot) and everything went perfect. No crashes on any other problems... VDJ running and Norton on and I use Tempo fairly frequently. I use Instabuttons "very" often (and in sequence).

Hmm, this is what seems to be happenning, and I see that others are reporting the same with different setups, different OS, and laptops vs. desktops as well. If gremlins are the cause, hopefully than that can be easily found programatically (I hope). However, the only way to perhaps duplicate it is to play at 4 or 5 gigs until it finally shows up (The Crash), which happens to me twice a week.(8 -10 gigs a week). Kod, I play at small country venues all the time, a pizza shop, a VFW (town pop. = 1500), a brand new bar, etc. etc., (There are NO big venues in Maine) but the 12 - 15 singers I do have on a given night tend to stay all night and sing all night. And because of hoster and its great program, I am able to run 60 - 80 total songs every night and twice on Thursday and Saturday. However, my wife runs two shows a week with XP and H4.09D and had maybe one crash last year, due to some conflict with VDJ that has never happened again. My point is I bought a brand new $1500 laptop (top of the line with a top of the line dedicated video card) with nothing on it except VDJ and Hoster 5.07 now 5.08b1, and it tends to crash every 2 or 3 hundred singers, on average. (maybe a windows 7 thing). My other programs with this same laptop play all videos fine, even karaoke files which it isn't even intended for, w/o problem.

I forgot that I did use a couple Instabuttons, but that never made a difference before. I am reminded that when Vista first came out, it took me forever to get Hoster to run without problems & many people went back to XP. Then Win7 came out & was supposed to solve everything. It then seemed that people had more problems with Win7 & my Vista problems went away & only came back when I did upgrades. MTU worked very hard getting Hoster to work with all the different systems. The more "bells & whistles", the more tweaking that needs to be done. Bryant, have you turned off a lot of the Windows "processes" that run in the background? That's what we had to do to get Vista to run smoothly. 2 points - first I have to think that MTU has solved most problems because there have been so few posts on the Help Forum. That says to me that there only a few of us still having these crashes. 2nd - In the past, it was suggested to run a Registry Cleaner periodically, something I haven't done in a while. That is what straightened out my Vista a long time ago. Maybe time to do that again. ![]()

Every possible un-needed background service is disabled. Brand new laptop, never goes on line except for windows 7 updates, and is completely updated as is all drivers, and I tried a number of older video drivers too. And 8 GB ram, video card is 1 GB video ram. Very few ppl are posting problems, but many only use hoster at home, and some might not even use extended screens, and some may just be having the luck of the draw (beating the randomness), and some may simply be not playing more than once or twice a month, at say, 60 to 70 songs a month may take a year for the random gremlin to attack. Recall I see nearly 500 singers every single week.
