Re: Importing mp3g zip files to hoster

Open Tools/CD/DVD drives, in this dialog make sure when your new usb drive is plugged in that it shows in the main window and shows as status good. Then make sure that in the drop down at the bottom where it states "Default Read Drive" that the one listed is the one you purchased from MTU and press save.
If you start Hoster up without this drive plugged in it may automatically alter this drive selection to your internal drive. So if you don't always have the external plugged in, when you do decide to use it you should check this selection box hasn't defaulted to your internal.

Re: Importing mp3g zip files to hoster

Well, the drive works fine with my microstuido and the hoster demo Im running. It reads discs fine with the MTU stuff.

It's when I try to run it with the power CDG that there's a problem with it reading discs. Not that I care about that anymore since I'm planning on going with hoster. Its just that back when I WAS using power CDG to upload my tracks orginally it was a little frustrating when I couldn't use that drive.

I had to go back to my desktop which had LONG been down and pull my plextor internal drive out of that and then buy the adapter to convert it an external drive before I could upload any songs. Like I said before...it [Power CDG] WOULD detect the drive...it would be in the drop down window. It's just that it wouldnt' read any disc I put in there. Original discs or burned ones or anything.

But, only with my laptop that has windows 7. When I use it with my laptop that has XP [and a Plextor drive]..it reads discs just fine. Weird situation. According to Power CDG forum their software is supposed to support windows 7. Doesn't really matter anymore since I'm going to be use hoster. Just kind of a weird glitch I guess.

Re: Importing mp3g zip files to hoster

So as I see it now your only problem at the moment with Hoster is the graphics out of sync ?

No problems with importing songs ?

One advantage if you use Hoster to import the CD+G direct as a .kma file, it burns it and indexes it straight to the data base, you don't have to do anything else, it's ready to go.
If you use power cd burner to rip the disc, you still have to import it afterwards into Hoster.

Re: Importing mp3g zip files to hoster

Oh...Im done importing. I already imported them with Power CDG a couple of months ago. I ran the Siglos for a couple of months until I saw someone running a show with Hoster in it. I loved it and decided I wanted to use hoster instead of Siglos. I have imported a few into the hoster demo version but since the program is limited I could only do so many for a small amount of time per song.

But, to answer your question..yes...the words being out of synch is the main problem and I haven't had a chance to go in tools to try and fix that. There is one other little problem Im noticing. Sometimes...the songs skip when I run them on hoster. You know what I mean? Like when a bad CD is in a karaoke player and it starts to jump around and the words get all jumbled up. I play the same song on the Siglos and it plays fine with no skipping. It doesn't do this a LOT when Im running it from hoster using a downloaded mp3g file from the hard drive...BUT, if I try to just PLAY a disc from the player...it will skip all over the place. And that's on the hoster AND the microstudio. I've used microstudio for a long time and NEVER had that issue until now. So, Im kind of holding off on buying the complete hoster untili I get these bugs worked out. I figure when I get them working on hoster demo and microstudio then they will work fine when I get the hoster complete. What would cause my cdgs to skip when Im playing them directly from the disc on microstudio. And when I use them like they...they skip pretty much 100% of the time. This is certainly a bug I need to get worked out since I know sometimes singers bring their own CDG's to shows.

Hoster doesn't play a song directly from the disc. When you click on the Singers Disc button, you enter what track and the title of the song and the singers name then click Add. What Hoster does is import a temporary copy of the file from the CD just as if you were using the Import function. Then when you play the song it plays it from the hard drive. Once the song has been played through, then that file is erased from the hard drive.
I am not sure if Microstudio does this the same way, but I suspect it does as a lot of Microstudio and Hoster are the same when it comes to the player.

Re: Importing mp3g zip files to hoster

Microstudio does play straight of the disc which is one reason why I requested being able to do this in Hoster some time back, as yet it is not in Hoster.

All I can think of if it is skipping, have you done all the recommended updates and settings as MTU suggests as these solve most problems. ?

Re: Importing mp3g zip files to hoster

Yes, I did all the recommendations for setting up my computer to make it work with hoster. Not sure what might be going on with it.
