Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I don't know if this is important, but I'm up to 22k songs imported (allegedly) and the book ID number is at 1,769,355 and counting... Is this supposed to be that high?

BookIDs can be up to 5 digits for BookIDs and 4 digits for tracks. How many tracks per bookID depends on how many files in a folder. So yes the number can go that high.

Roy none of my files on my Windows 7 laptop show this and they were all KMA files copied from another computer.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Here is my semi-final report.

The first round of importing files is complete. These are all the standard files that are in the following format: XXX-XX - XXXXXX - XXXXXX.zip

The software reports that there are 24,256 NEW FILES

When the software finished importing, however, it stated as follows:
Batch Import Complete Total Files Imported: 16 (WHAT?!)

I have taken the Song.db to my computer and open it up and find the following total files: 23,499

That's missing 757 files.

I have an additional 1,480 files in the following format to import: XXX-XX-X - XXXXXXXX - XXXXXXXX.zip

There is an import error log that contains "3" files ONLY 3.

I do not know what else to do. It isn't just this file or that file type, it is missing files. I would challenge someone else to use Windows Explorer to count how many zip files they have, then open their songs database and see how many are reported and see if this ISN'T just me... but to make it even, it has to be a fresh install of the current version 502.07.

Did you delete the existing Songs.mdb file and the Songs_backup.mdb before you restarted importing? If not then that would be why it only reported importing 16 files.

Check the security for each folder and make sure that you have at least rights to modify the folders and files inside them.

I am sure when you set this computer up for them that you did the Windows 7 required changes. However if you have upgraded this computer with updates from Microsoft try going through that check list again. Sometimes those updates will change those settings. Here is a link:

I agree with Roy, it might be better to figure out a few of the missing DiskIDs and what folders they are in, Copy those files minus the KMH files to a new folder, rename the Songs.mdb and Songs_Backup.mdb files to something else, then try importing just those to see what happens. Then we can see if we can figure out what is wrong that is preventing them from being imported.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Before I begin, I'm going to admit that I'm frustrated.

I've got an alternative way of figuring out if it is the files or if it is the version. I have a version of 4.11 from an installation with one key not used. I'm installing it on the PC and doing a scan of the files. If I get all the files during this scan, we're going to have to come to an agreement that it isn't the files, but it IS the software.

I'm sorry to be banging that drum, but the files imported fine on Roy's PC and I'm missing just over 700 random files. The key is RANDOM. it isn't the files with the security warning, it is just random.

I deleted the songs database and the backup, yes, I knew this, but thanks for reminding me. The software just seems to be doing strange things.

Yes, I did the windows 7 installation sheet. In fact, I printed it out and went down item by item, even the just in case stuff.

I'm really frustrated. If I get all the files in version 4.11, I'll see if they will port over to 502.07, maybe. Depends on how late it is as I have to have this PC back by 12:00 PM tomorrow for the Sunday show and if I get ALL the files in, I'm going to be thinking that it isn't the files, but it is the software and I'll wait for you gurus to figure it out in the beta forum and wait for an upgrade that states it is fixed.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

What I think you should do to remove all records from the system is from the "Build songs database" dialog Highlight all the folders showing that are in the list then press the "Exclude Folders" button. After doing this press the "Build Database "button that will build a zero count songs .mbd.
Next press the "Excluded folders " button at the top of the dialog and remove all the files that you removed earlier except the Recycle.Bin,C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\Windows. or any others that you know don't have music in. This will then allow those files to be indexed again but they may still have their .KMH headers with them that may be corrupted so delete these.kmh headers.
Now it will be like starting from scratch.

Regarding your book id # I did point this out earlier from the file you sent me, it does seem very high, in theory 25,500 songs imported as only 15 songs to an ID would only give you an id of 163399. So something strange is happening there.
It may be that it is counting on top of your existing ID # with the new imports that is why it needs all existing data removed from the system if you don't remove the existing .kmh files it will keep using those book id's as it is in the headers.
A lot of problems like this occur by deleting files Via Windows Explorer instead of using the Edit Dialog in Hoster but removing the folders from the build database option it should tell you xxx amount of files removed.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I don't know how to make it any clearer.

I have deleted the Songs database, I've reinstalled the software, when I uninstalled, I deleted the MTU folder.

I tried rebuilding the database. The ONE song that I know isn't in the database SHOWS UP IN THE REBUILD SECTION, but does not show up in the data base or in the search.

This is NOT file related. This has something to do with the software. That is what I'm saying.

If I don't have a solution in 2 hours, I'm going to have to recommend a refund request and another piece of software. Need I remind you that these files WORK in Hoster if I grab them, they work on your system and they work in another piece of software?

There is another post here where the poster ALSO claims missing files, I don't know if it is the same issue or something different, but I need a solution, ASAP.

Also, the rebuild "THIS TIME" reproduced an additional 19 files, up from 24929 to 24948. Tell me that isn't weird.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I've found the problem, now I need a solution and we HAVE to say that it is the software.

I checked on of the other songs that isn't showing up and I opened the KMH file. The KMH file has the same BOOKID and I know that they can't have the same book ID.

Both have the following book ID: 176947901

Now what?
