Upgrade from 4 to 5 Issue

I am trying to upgrade Hoster 4.3x to 5, I got Hoster 4 version last November so it is within the one year window. I uninstalled and installed and it keeps saying that is already installed on two computers. I am trying to upgrade those two so it doesn't make any sense.

I did a system restore to recover 4 but would like to try 5 before a show, that is kind of difficult to me because I have gigs on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. So I need to upgrade both.

Thanks for your help and responses!!!

Couple things Rickyrey. First since you using an upgrade version, then you don't uninstall and re-install. It is required that a previous version be installed to upgrade.
Also anytime you do uninstall you must do it on-line for the uninstallation is reported to MTU server, so you can re-install. This should only be used when moving Hoster from one computer to another or when you are going to rebuild a computer operating system.
So leave your version 4 on the computer and use the upgrade setting and not remove. If it still will not let you install then you will need to send a support email ticket to get them to reset your account. Be sure to include the last 4 of registration code and computer name you assigned when installed.

Re: Upgrade from 4 to 5 Issue

First I tried to do it upgrading from the executable. When the data went to MTU it responded that I already have Hoster installed on two computers. Yes, it is true but is the same computer I am trying to upgrade. That's when I tried to uninstall and install MTU system responded the same. In both cases the computer was connected to the web.

Re: Upgrade from 4 to 5 Issue

I tried to update from Hoster itself, same response from system.

Anyways, I submitted a ticket but would like to test drive Hoster at home before the weekend. I have a gig tomorrow evening and another on Sunday night.

Thanks for you reply!!!

Re: Upgrade from 4 to 5 Issue

just a bit of advice..don't upgrade both of them at the same time, upgrade one first and try it , and also do not upgrade on days or a day before your show, just incase the upgrade won't go right..

Re: Upgrade from 4 to 5 Issue

Gentlemen, the fault is not in what rickyrey is doing, but a flaw that appeared in Windows SN and Hoster 4.21, 4.22, 4.32. Only MTU can fix this, and I have done so for rickyrey so he can now install 5.01.

We have instructed our webmaster to delete all RegRecords that contain this flaw, but he still hasn't. I'll call him again today and pressure him to do it. Once done, ths "already installed on 2 computers" should disappear, except where there truly is 2 installs and you are trying to install on a third.

Dale, please note that since May of 2010, we no longer require a prior version to be found when doing an upgrade. In that month, we modified our web scripts to consider "older" Upgrade RegCodes to be the same as Original RegCodes, except the Original RegCode they replaced cannot be used any longer.

Product Upgrades ordered AFTER May 2010 no longer give you another RegCode. Your currently active RegCode you are upgrading is simply extended to allow installing the current version and those for the next 12 months. It really is much easier, except this grimlin that crept into Hoster due to a Windows flaw.
