Re: Report Hoster 5.00 Problems

I just checked there is a singers button right next to the search button, that is the button I press in 4.32 and now in 5.0

Yes that one is much the same as previous versions, next time try the new one that opens from the search window itself as I described in the earlier post and see if you still get the crashing.

Re: Report Hoster 5.00 Problems

To add to this Stublack there is an explanation in the manual on this new way to get to the Singer's database.

Re: Report Hoster 5.00 Problems

Last night I used 5.0 for the first time in a show and I had an intermittent problem with Hoster not responding. I pretty much know what caused it though. Yesterday in another thread I was writing about a request that I had previously wrote about that would let you adjust font size in the search and singer's database. (The search and singers radio buttons.) I have a few older people with bad vision and when they want to see their list, they can't read it and I end up having to read it to them. I think it was Roy that told me that in Windows 7 there is a magnifier that you can put on your taskbar and open it anytime. I used it last night with some of those people, and they loved it, but once I shut it off, Hoster stops functioning. Luckily it takes about 3-4 seconds for Hoster to start back up again and all songs are still there, so the singer doesn't realize that anything happened. I wish Hoster and the magnifier would play nice together, but if this is how it goes, I guess I can live with it. Would be nice if the original request would be added to Hoster, then I wouldn't need the magnifier.

Stublack... this is how MTU gets to the bottom of some of the problems, that never get observed during beta testing prior to release of upgrades...Maybe its an underpowered computer, that doesn't have the resources that many of the beta testers don't usually have to worry with, or sometimes it's an uncommon use of the program, that the beta testers don't use, so the gremlins don't raise their little heads prior to the release of an upgrade, until many, many users get a chance to pound on their individual computer's and find a bug or problem that all the beta testing didn't uncover, and wouldn't have been fixed prior to release!

So Admin/MTU wants to uncover any problem that the new release causes to any of it's customers, and try to duplicate that problem so a fix/repair can be made and sent out in a bug fix, or solve the issue in the next upgrade release! The more detailed information you can give about the problem, what you were doing when it happened, and your individual computer specs, and operating system, will help MTU/Admin to unmask the gremlins, and solve your problem... and probably many others that may be seeing the same problem, and thus making Hoster a better product for all its customers!

Re: Report Hoster 5.00 Problems

I have used Hoster 5.00 twice the first time it shut down once during a 4 hour show. The second time it shut down 7 times during a 4 hour show. 5 times after the song had finished, once during a song and the next time it locked up during a song. I had to power down and restart my computer. I upgraded to 5.01 today I have a 4 hour show tonight I will let you know what happens....

I have an MTU Ruggedized Laptop that I purchased last year.

We will see what happens.....

Re: Report Hoster 5.00 Problems

I have bought Hoster Lite and Microstudio for my home PC Windows 7.

The Hoster Lite, imports tracks and plays them fine, but when I transfer KMA files to my shows Windows Vista and XP, I then go to tools and try to merge kma files, when doing this I get a balloon that says'
"Parameter Incorrect" and the songs will not merge or play.

Then other times they will merge, but less than 100% is not acceptable.

I wind up having to reload the disk into one of my shows and then transfer to the other.

I've tried using microstudio and songverter and neither works, for the merging, is this a Windows 7 (64bit) problem or is there a fix I can do?

Hoster 5.00 may not be backward compatible with all earlier versions with certain files.
5.00 has more header data than some earlier versions. But you should be able to do this the other way round, import them using your earlier versions then use the build database and use the add folder option or rescan folder option.

Re: Report Hoster 5.00 Problems

I did buy the hoster lite to do my work at home and load the kma's in the shows. Thanks for the work around suggestion but I would rather MTU be aware of it and give me a possible answer.

The other way around is pulling unloading a trailer with my mtu rackmount pc in it.

Not fun, doing it at the show is taking time I do not want to allocate, while I'm working. While it's possible and I do type 80 wpm, it's still a pain to type all the titles and artists that I can have downloaded at home while connected to the net.

Swany, the only way it is going to work as is would be if you upgrade your show machines to 5.01. There has been data added to the header and the older versions do not know what to do with a header file that is larger and has information that they don't use.
What versions are you using on the show machines? If they are in the 4.xx range then you can download an earlier version back to 4.10 and up to 4.32 and use that on your home PC. That way the ones you import at home will be compatible with the show machines. Your license will allow this.
