Removing Silence

Approximately half my songs got the silence removed. Then I got Hoster Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for this inconvience. Report this to Microsoft (send) (Don't send) I would like to finish. What to do? I went to Edit Songs clicked on No-se then typed "*" and clicked on find. Got a message saying the song I requested was not there try again.

Did you type in the quotes as well ? just type * with the no-se highlighted.

Re: Removing Silence

I did type the quotes. Just typed * this time and it still didn't work. I never wanted all my songs to have the silence removed. I do shows for vocal groups and other entertainers that use caned music. Those are the only ones I really wanted to remove. My songs are on an external hard drive. What if I copied the songs I want to my internal hard drive disconnected the external then did remove silence. Wouldn't that do what I want?

Re: Removing Silence

At the moment there are no edit functions to reset the S-E Set back to No. Once you have run your songs through the remove silence feature they are set and can only be altered one at a time in the Single edit window. To the best of my knowledge moving them to another folder or drive will have no effect on removing the silence removal. You can play them without silence removed by setting them in Tools/Remove Silence dialog and setting it to Normal play Mode.

I copied the following from another post, the risk of doing so is yours.
There is a way to reset ALL of your songs and start over with the Remove Silence. Go into "regedit" and select the following Key:

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Default\AdjustStartEndThreshold"

Modify the value to be anything other than 4 (example: 1, 2, or 3). Then run Hoster, click the Tools > Remove Silence... command. In it's dialog, you'll see a red button on the bottom. Click this and it sets the "SE" flag on ALL songs to NO. Then you're ready to redo your Start End Silence Removal on ALL songs.

This next part is just a suggestion of mine.
Once you have reset them all to No Se Set, you could move the ones you want to have the S-E set to another folder, rebuild the database with just that one folder, do remove silence on those, then add your other folders back to the rebuild list and rebuild again with all the folders. The only thing then is if you accidentally press the remove silence feature again it will remove silence on all the files again.
