Post MTU Laptop Issue

I just recently purchased the mtu Laptop with windows 7, which is using Hoster 4.32. When I go to the audio button and try to bring in an MP3 a window pops up and says, "Hoster Application has stopped working, a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." No solution comes up. Also when I use the Remove Silence it does the same thing. The program closes and when I open it back up, the song I was trying to get from audio is there and it plays fine. Everything should be up to the specs of Hoster, I have only had the laptop a few days. Please help me solve this issues! Thanks

Re: MTU Laptop Issue

you probably have to submit a ticket to MTU support.just wondering if you did the latest windows 7 updates, since you only had the laptop a few days it might not have the updates yet.

Re: MTU Laptop Issue

Are these files you are accessing stored on the computers C/ drive or are you trying to access them from a usb drive or other device ?

If they are from an external source I should try another connecting lead just to make sure it's not that.
I would think if you bought this from MTU with Hoster installed all updates would already be done but one thing you can just double check if the UAC is turned right down. To do this go to Start/Control Panel/User Account then click the "change user accounts settings" from this window slide the control right to the bottom and click OK. Ignore any warnings.

The message to notify you is a Microsoft message nothing to do with Hoster. Sometimes you will get a result back from Microsoft, with a message in the flag icon on the task bar titled "action center" but probably won't be the answer you are looking for.

Re: MTU Laptop Issue

yes we are getting all the songs from the C drive. We had already tried changing the settings in the user account. Made sure that everything was updated as well. This never happened on windows XP, just on the 2 computer that have windows 7 on them.

Re: MTU Laptop Issue

First, go ahead and submit a Support Email Ticket. Since you just got the unit and have only had it for a few days.
Run through this link of changes that must be done for Windows 7. I am sure They did before sending it, but just to make sure.

http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/windows7-changes.htm

I am wondering though what is the source of the MP3 you are trying to play? Was it imported through Windows Media Player or imported on another computer and transferred?

Re: MTU Laptop Issue

Sherri,
What type of files are these? Are they .wma files you had imported from another computer, such as the xp system, with DRM. If the files have DRM security on them, which Windows Media Player will put on any file imported from a CD, in the .wma format.

Once you move the files under Windows 7, it will not let you play them, as they tightened the security up on Windows 7.

Does this seem like what you are having as the issue?

Re: MTU Laptop Issue

The files are MP3's, some were recordered off a cassette tape as a wma and converted to MP3. They play fine, it just when you go to audio to get them, hoster crashes. If you click on the song and hit the open button they go with no problems. If you double click, which we do a lot only because it's faster, it crashes hoster. We just can't figure out why it is crashing Hoster when we do this and how to fix this problem.
