Unhappy Re: Hoster Show Nightmare - A 3rd video card was used and dialogs moved to it

Hi Roy

Well I removed the drivers then;
1. Rebooted
2. Cleaned the registry.
3. Downloaded drivers from the startech site.
4. Reinstalled drivers.

I made sure the extended monitor was active before installing the new drivers, after the install I check the properties dialog and only the two monitors where present before the program rebooted the computer for the changes to take effect.

After the reboot I checked again and found the USB monitor defaulted to monitor #2 and extended to monitor #3, so back to the same position I was in before.

I also changed the order of the monitor icons to show monitor #3 in second position in properties, but that had no effect either when I played those files in Hoster they still showed the lyrics as before no change at all...

Joe...

Hmm, I really thought that might work, seems like it takes president over the on-board graphic card.

Have you contacted the manufacturer for any help on this?

Roy.

Re: Hoster Show Nightmare - A 3rd video card was used and dialogs moved to it

Joe, not ready to give up on this yet.

Have you tried having your singers screen coming from the USB card, if so are the graphics still scrambled? If they are not is there any reason why you can't have this as your singers screen and the search screen from your extended video card.

I suppose you would have to use the converter from the VGA output on the USB card. and have the search screen straight from the VGA out.

Or have I got it completely wrong

Roy.

I believe I tried that idea, but will check it out again, and yes I spent 2hrs this morning with them and was told that windows takes care of the alocation of the video cards..., he also recommended try speaking with Hoster to see what they can do...

Re: Hoster Show Nightmare - A 3rd video card was used and dialogs moved to it

Well, when I first started Hoster it went to the #3 monitor, then I moved and resized the singers Display to the USB monitor and closed Hoster so it would default to the USB monitor which it did and it worked Perfectly as expected with no issues on Auto for over one hour all songs played normally.

This is what I've been Saying all along Hoster is programed to monitor #2 and since the USB monitor is Display #2 this is why it plays normally.

The only problem is that my DJ program and other software won't run on the available 16meg of built in memory the USB video card has, haven't tried my controllers yet, but between all the monitors and projectors on the venues that I usually run, it would not be possible using this setup.

Thanks Roy

Joe this may be the key to your problem with songs not displaying right. Most internal video cards now have 128 to 256 or more MB of internal memory.
Have you tried getting the display back to the primary and instead of double clicking drag it over to #3 and then double click to enlarge to full screen? That way the main screen and the display would be off of the internal card, leaving the USB to hold the Search and Singers Database windows on #2.

Have you thought about upgrading to a higher memory USB card? Found one at USBgear that had 512MB for only $70.

If your other software is Virtual dj as I have you could select window for the video on that instead of the activate option and drag the window for vdj to the usb display as in Hoster.

My laptop card is an nVidia 8600 GT with 512 vid ram which handles the laptop screen and extended monitor.

I started Hoster program and it displayed the singer screen to monitor #2 like I configured it last night, I then closed Hoster and disconnected the USB video card and started Hoster program again and it automatically Displayed the singers screen to monitor #3., I then move the Singers display screen to my laptop dragged it back to monitor #3 clicked to full screen tested with a problem file and tested good with lyrics screen.

I then plugged the USB Video Card and monitor back in and tested again and this time the lyrics scrambled in monitor #3.

I bought this card three months ago and paid $69.00 for it...

Another problem is I also have to figure out a way to route and plug in the USB card to the VGA splitter, then I also have to worry about all the many other programs I have that may not work properly with this setup..

I know they work properly with my internal card no question.

Hoster program gets mixed up when the USB card is activated and gets allocated to Display monitor #2, that is when the issue starts, even though it still renders in the extended singers display #3 monitor the conflict is evident.

This is what I've been Saying all along Hoster is programmed to monitor #2 and since the USB monitor is Display #2 this is why it plays normally as per a test requested by Roy on a previous post.

There is a place in the registry that points Hoster program to the #2 Display monitor, changing that pointer to Display monitor #3, will solve the problem.

Will I get help with this from the MTU staff....?

Thanks guys
Joe

Roy.
Yes you are correct Roy and I tried that already and tried it again, got a choppy banner scroll and the video rendering was not as smooth as the nVidia card, not good enough for a show.

I already have what I need in my setup for a very professional show and don't need to change everything I have just for the sake of one program; it's like changing 99% of something to accommodate 1% of something else.

I'm not asking for the Hoster program to be change to accommodate me, I've already been tolled No.., what I'm asking is for the information on the registry key that points to monitor #2 so I can charge it to monitor #3, I can do this myself if I had the information.

This will resolve the issue with my "Second Video Card" setup; it’s already been proven in my Test that it works with no issues with this one change.

Can I please have this information so I can better enjoy working with my Hoster program and my third monitor without these problems...Please...

Thanks Roy

Joe, may I suggest the "new" Live-Chat on the homepage. Maybe they'll know the answer to your Registry question, or direct it to the appropriate person.
