I had BA running for about 30 minutes before the show, but turned it off when I started my show.

Each time Hoster stopped, I lifted the computer up and felt of the bottom of it and it was cool. Never did get hot. Heat ws not the problem, as far as I could tell!

Don't know anything else to do. It appears that I'm the only one having problems, so it's either me or a problem with my computer that I don't know how to reslove, so I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to live with it.
Make sure you have the latest 4.22 update that just came out Wednesday (I think). I had no shutdowns with this one!

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22

Billyo,

I use a monitor only (use internal hdd) and at home it's not hooked up, so it appears this is not the problem.

I downloaded 4.22 directly into Hoster and cannot go backwards (learned a lesson there).

Skybird,

I didn't know an update of 4.22 had been issued. Have I missed something?

You may have. Here's the July 14 post from Admin. Read the Thread on "Hoster.... dll error..."

I believe It was just a fix for people who had trouble with the download procedure, I don't think there was any more fixes for your particular problem. But it wont do any harm downloading it.

Do you think your problem is gradually getting worse as you say it stopped 6 times.
I'm beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with your computer.

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22

Roy,
I downloaded it anyway. I will do a mock show at home to see if anything happens.

And no, I don't think it's getting worse. Since I downloaded 4.22, the results have been eratic. Sometimes it's late in the show, sometimes it's early. Sometimes it's only stopped once in a show. Sometimes more! So it's really been all over the place and hard to track or make any sense of the pattern.

Although I will test it at home, I will not have another show until Thursday and that's the real test...

Skybird,

You stated that you downloaded the lastest version and had no stops with it. Does that mean you had some stops before you downloaded the latest version?

Yes, Hoster crashed at least a couple times with every Show with 4.21 and when 4.22 first came out, but usually only when I had Visualizations running with BA. I also updated .NET, so that probably helped also. If you download 4.22 again, then you'll be sure you have the latest, and then you can go from there. And don't forget Windows Updates. One of the fixes did have to do with Vista and Win7, so my problem could have also been related to the fact I am using Vista.

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22

During my Thursday night show (7/22) Hoster stopped four times between 8:15 pm and 9:30 pm and did not stop any more that night. The Bar is nicely air conditioned...

On Staurday night I did a private show (9:30pm to 1:30am) in a hot garage (95 degrees) and Hoster did not stop even once! It was very hot Saturday in North Carolina (99 before the sun set) and I was only using a the USB cooling fan mounted under my laptop.

This tells me I definitely don't have Laptop heat problem. And, if I "am" having a software problem, why didn't it stop any more Thursday and why didn't it stop at all under the very hot conditions Saturday night? (Rhetorical question, I guess)

Go figure...

Re: Hoster 4.21 Vs. 4.22

If I wanted to be funny, I would say maybe the bar is too cool, but I know it isn't a joke to you.
If there were others still having problems we might be able to figure this out, but no one else is reporting this now. MTU has been over the program with a finetooth comb and cannot find any more problems that would make it stop.
There is only one other thing I can offer at this time. And that is try turning off unnecessary processes. There is a list at the following website of things you can try. http://www.blackviper.com/ They have a section for each operating system. Less processes means more time for Hoster.

Hey Kod, just wanted to put in my 2 cents, maybe it'll help. I've had problems with power at one of my venues, and what happens is Hoster freezes up when you hit play. The song stays on "cue". I have three power strips with lots of equipment plugged into all three. The power strips are all connected to each other with the last one in line plugging into the wall. What I did was isolate the power strip that my computer plugs into from the other power strips, and plug that into the wall by itself, and the 2 other strips are plugged into another outlet. That has cleared my freezing problem up. I found that power coming from the outlet must be on the low side, because just last week I put a visualization on the display that was very intricate and intense and it worked fine until I went to play, and it froze up again. I was able to take the visualization out after a few tries and replaced it with another one that wasn't as intricate and Hoster worked fine. That tells me that it's got to be power, especially since I had major problems with power before I moved to this side of the bar. The owner checked the outlet where I used to set up, and he said power was very low, so he rewired and fixed that outlet but where I moved to, they're still the same ones. One other thing I have found is if you press a button, and then press another one too quickly, it will freeze Hoster. Case in point. I have a singer that came up to sing and I gave him the mic. I started to play the song but he wasn't ready so I hit stop. That froze Hoster, and I had to restart Hoster and then it was fine. This has happened to me on a few occasions, and that also includes hitting an instabutton and then hitting another button. If this is what's happening to you, slow down on hitting the next button. Hopefully this helps.
