Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working
Dale,
Is there a possibility that some coding change can resolve this problem down the road? |

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working
Are you working on a FIX for 4.11, also? I know about 6 KJs using either 4.11 or 4.20 that are ALL having the crashing problem and ALL having audio drop outs on the mp3 music for dancing. i am using 4.11 with windows 7 and plenty of engine power. Mine was working fine, and just started messing up a few weeks ago.

There will not be additional fixes for 4.11 except to upgrade to 4.21. 4.20 added Video importing capability and only changed the import from hard drive section of the program. 4.21 fixed code causing the shutdowns. That does not mean that running the BA and Visuals will necessarily work as this again is dependent on your computer. This includes it's sound card and video card capabilities. Some it will work on and some it will not. In your case another 1 gb ram wouldn't hurt at all.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working
Please understand that we are now putting 100% of our development resources on fixing these problems; 1) crashing with/without BA player, 2) crashing when removing silence, 3) lyrics out of sync.
We have studied the Hoster code and, in a reasonable time spent, did not find any bugs that can be causing these problems. Thus, RIGHT NOW we are upgrading our software development environment - Microsoft DevStudio 2005. Whoever it was above that stated Hoster was running fine and now it isn't, this "could" be caused by a Windows upgrade that changed a DLL or other system level "utility" called by Hoster. We expect to have the new DevStudio up and running by the end of today. You might wonder why we are using an "older" version of DevStudio: 1. Our products all worked fine, until recently. 2. By using an older version of Direct-x and WMP, didn't require you (our users) to upgrade. OK, now you will need to do this... if it hasn't already been done. Some folks have complained loudly in the past when we required the "latest and greatest" versions of these. 3. It potentially will require more computer RAM to run with the newer Diret-X and WMP (Hoster shouldn't change its requirements). We won't know until we get it built and can test. We expect that when we compile Hoster under the newer DevStudio, we'll have to "fix" some code operations. This is normal, and we currently expect this to happen within a day once the DevStudio is running. Again, we won't know until we try to compile. As soon as we can, we'll get our Beta Testers on it, and probably get a copy to each of you who have reported problems in this Thread. Two of you tested 4.21 with us. We are also working on adding a Tools > Disable Functions command. It will have a checkbox beside every major "processor/RAM" intensive function added since 4.00. Clicking one will disable its associated feature. This will allow those who still run Hoster 3.3XX to take advantage of the less demanding new features, upgrades and bug fixes, while "hopefully" still running on your older computers. I will not hold up releasing the bug fixes for this, so this new "disable" command probably will appear in Hoster 4.30. |
