I had a night mare for over a year with vista and bought this because Hoster said w7 seems to have worked out the bugs...wrong. my new computer shuts down hoster at least 3 time a night. I have had some nights though wher it goes without a hitch, but as usual its buggy and i can't figure it out. I have noticed that when i have media player running in the backround it is more apt to shut down. a friend of mine went through all the hoops and finally went back to hoster 3.321a and all the shut downs quit??? any ideas?

One thing you need to remember is Hoster uses the Media Player to play the audio. By having an additional incidence open this may be over-loading the player.
For the rest of you try using it without using the Background audio or Media Player running outside Hoster and see if that stops the shutdowns or at least lessens them.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Doug thank you for your quick reply. I could shut down windows media player but what a waste of money on alltaht ram and quick processor only to be able to run hoster solo. I can load the next singer's disc while playing a track while the present singer is up. Thats really why i bought an expensive computer , to multi-task. why can't hoster run with other programs, sounds like a weak spot in hoster doesn't it??

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

No sounds like a weak spot in Windows 7 that has apparently existed in it since the Vista days (Windows 7 is based on Vista). XP has not had any of these problems.

As Support said they will be looking at it, so maybe they can come up with a fix to get past this. I was only offering that as a work around temporary fix until they can figure out what is going on.

Besides you don't need to run a Media Player outside of Hoster as they have added the Background Audio player and you can do exactly what you are doing now. That is if it doesn't cause this too for now.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

The programmer is working on the bug, we diagnosed it this morning.

This is if you get a crash at the very END of the song, or when Status shows Wait. This is when it starts the countdown for the Automatic play with a set time in between each song. The default for this is 5 seconds.

What we found that is happening in this state, is that after a certain number of Files are played, it leaves the files open. So this is what seems to be causing the Crash. I should know for sure later on this week if we have figured it out.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Ed,
The Background Audio Player is only in the Full Version of Hoster.

This is one of the Features that was left out of Hoster Lite for the price difference.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

I did, then, try using the audio function, went into my external drive to bring up mp3's to the play list. it worked speedily and being able to set the fade in/out is nice also. i will try this on the gig and maybe what you suggested about the media player running outside of hoster is taxing the computer. since i also work as a solo singer with hoster i have my own established play list with my favorite brands and key sets always in place. it is necessary to sometimes deliver a song i don't sing live via mp3 (DJ) and i will now try using the audio function within hoster to see if the shut downs will go away. its funny but it hasn't shut down when i am playing a track for the "up" singer while simultaneously loading a song form the next singers disc and that seems to me to be a test on taxing the computer, but so far as long as i dont have media player or a seperate DJ program running at the same time it's okay.
