Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Kod & Susan

Sounds like yours are all the same type, so probably won't help in this case. I have attached a screen shot just to show what I meant. It shows in the type column.
In your case it should show as "CDCDG" so if they are all the same it can't be singled out to a specific type.

Back to the drawing board.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

When during (time of show) your shows is the computer locking up?

Have either of you tried adding a cooling pad under the laptops? These help them stay cooler.
Also, depending on how dirty or smokey the environment is where you play, they may be getting dirty inside which will contribute to heat.

When was the last time you both did the custom updates from Microsoft? They put out new ones every week and many do fix bugs in operating system. Since Windows 7 is still pretty new I am sure there are lots of bugs that need fixing.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Dale,
I have my laptop up on a tilting stand with a mesh bottom and I also have a cooling pad under it. And ... where I play is finally smoke free!

I have had my laptop only about three months. I have not looked for any updates from MicroSoft because I keep it off-line as much as possible.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Everytime you upgrade Hoster (which does require being on-line) you should upgrade from Microsoft prior to installing. Also at least once a month you should get Microsoft upgrades. Remember that Hoster uses Windows Media Player for it's operation and this is intwined in a lot of Microsoft functions.

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Dale,
I went online and updated Windows 7 with all the current updates. Actually, I'm online with my Hoster computer now, something I rarely do (for fear of viruses).

When I do my Thursday night show, (currently my only show) we'll see what happens...

Thanks for the advice!

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

I did my show last night (Thursday 5/13) and Hoster shut down three times. The first time was before the show while playing music through Backgound Audio. I wasn't on stage when it stopped, so I know it wasn't anything that I did to cause the problem.

When I noticed the music had stopped, I went on stage and sure enough the screen showed "Hoster Stopped Working!"

Again, the next two times it was after the song(s) had completed and Hoster started back up without any problems. Both times I was not doing anything (searching for songs, etc.) at all within the program.

I'm just baffled...

Re: Hoster Shutting Down - Stopped Working

Did you have BA enabled ?
I ask this because you said it stopped working while just playing background music. If this is the case perhaps it has something to do with as the next BA song starts to play. Try it without the BA enabled to see if this is where the problem exists.

Roy.
