Also check the back of the TV as it may have a refresh rate setting listed (not always but some do). For TV's it should be either 60 or 75 Hz.

Ummm...it says 240v - 50hz?. Is that the same thing?

With all due respect, New Zealand uses the PAL TV format which is a screen refresh rate of 50hz. The American standard is NTSC which is 60hz.

But like I mentioned before if this was an issue I would think the picture quality would be poor all the time, not just under certain circumstances.
