What would be the purpose in going from S-Video to VGA.

Might as well use a TV, because that's the resolution you will end up with anyway...Junk.

When using a laptop that doesn't have a second VGA/DIGITAL OUT, I would suggest using a MATROX DUAL HEAD-TO-GO.

This will give you the correct way to interface to a Second LCD Monitor.
