Chris,

That "distant" sound you are hearing is the effects that were used on the original song. There aren't any filters (that I know of) that reduce this. Maybe if they made a sound editor that allowed you to edit the vertical component of a .wav file in addition to the horizontal component, maybe it could be done. Comments, anyone?
