can't import cdg files

I can't import cdg files but I can import the same files as a wave
file. I'm using a plextor cdrw pxw24x1040a drive
also files i copy with this drive will run on all my cd drives as music files except my karaoke drive has problems reading any of them
I have done all the things sugested by mtu such as turning off auto interupt etc.
