Newest Drivers

Is there a way to update just the drivers in an older version of Microstudio (2.312) so they will recognize a newer Plextor drive?

For some reason, my system will not accept the 2.4 version. I have payed for the 2.4 update (very reasonable) but when I try to install it, I get:

"An error occured in the move data process - Error 1612"
