Microstudio 4.004 64 bit windows 7 not playing

Ok. so my old laptop with windows XP crashed with my microstudio's program. Worked perfectly on this computer. No problem, had the disc to put on my new windows 7 operating system with 64 bit. Here is the problem. I was able to import the CDG tracks from my CDR-DVD burner I purchased at MTU when I originally bought the program, but when I go to play the tracks, my computer won't allow them to play the audio or the lyrics screen to pop up. It trys with just a blip of the screen, but will not play. I noticed with a lot of the updates available that it is not compatible with a 64 bit operating system. Am I correct in assuming that this may be the problem? The thing is, it accepted the imports and based on what I read on the updates non compatible with 64 bit systems Microstudios shouldn't even be able to import the tracks. I am really confused.
