4.0 Demo Error

I am trying to install the 4.0 Demo with no success.
When I start the demo the choose disk drive screen comes up asking me to choose my drive. The desktop I am installing on does not have a compatible CD+G drive. When I click cancel, Hoster crashes and gives me error UNKNOWN (1004).
I do have 2 drives on the computer one is a DVD-RW and the other is just a CD-ROM. Neither are showing on the list. I understand that they won't be usable, but they should show on the list.
When I go into MY Computer afterwards, neither drive is showing. Device manager shows errors for both drives that the drivers cannot be found. I then have to perform a system restore to get them back.

I would realy like to try out this demo. Any suggestions?

I am running:

Sony Corporation PCV-RS422(UC) 28003934

512 kilobyte secondary memory cache

107.31 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

1024 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot 'DIMM0' has 256 MB
Slot 'DIMM1' has 512 MB
Slot 'DIMM2' has 256 MB
Slot 'DIMM3' is Empty
