Backup Hard Drive

I have a couple of questions and am looking for some advice also.
I am running my show from my laptop, which is what I have been using as my home computer also. I am using a Western Digital 500gb external hard drive for storing my karaoke (kma) files.
The other night, I was hooking up my laptop to my amp and a shock fried my motherboard on the laptop. I have since purchased a sound card that has replaced the sound output from the laptop, but I am have problems with the computer running slow now along with some other problems due to the motherboard being bad now. I am buying another laptop now.
Question #1, I would like to install Hoster on another laptop now, since I am not going to be using the old laptop any longer, do I need to put a ticket in for this? I have installed Hoster on another home computer, but its slower and older and I could NEVER use that at a show. I only use that for editing the book.
Questions #2, I would like to back up my hard drive with all the kma files, is this as easy as copying one drive to another? Basically, I would like to have my home computer the exact same as the computer I have at the show.
