To all with this problem
We have discovered a rare bug in our security code.
It only happens with Windows 98SE or ME when there is no Network (Ethernet) card installed in the computer.
To overcome this problem now, please obtain any ISA or PCI bus Network card, install it and remove then reinstall Microstudio 2.604. We found some cards for $16 that worked fine.
If this does not solve your problem, post back here.
We are now working on a software code fix for this "Serial # mismatch error" problem. We currently expect to have this available for you to test within 1-2 weeks, with a full release by the end of July.
Note this warning! Since Microsoft has formally announced they will discontinue Windows 98 and ME in 2005, we will discontinue support of 98SE and ME before the end of 2004. We simply can't justify the ongoing expense to support these outdated Operating Systems. We value each of you as our customer, so please make plans to replace your older 98/ME computers and move up to Windows XP Home or Pro.
