Unhappy Can not edit songs

I purchased the hp with windows 7. I am having an issue with not being able to go in and edit my song data base. I've had other issues, as I can not upload a disk and can not input cd data on the input screen with the auto fill checked. I don't know if it is missing a file or something when I set up my computer. It worked for a while but just recently quit. Any suggestions? I am running an HP w-7 7450 processing speed 2.13 GHz with 4 GB of RAM and I have The Hoster program. Any suggestions?

First have you done all the steps required to run Hoster on Windows 7 at this link?

Did you run the Tools/Default drive and choose which drive to use?
You will have to explain exactly what you are doing when you try to import a CD.

Have you re-installed Hoster? It sounds like a missing, or corrupted database file.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on this subject. I tried to do what the instructions told me before I installed. Windows 7 is so different with where things are located, the display has several options and when it says to go to a certain place to format, well, it's not there. I need something that is window 7 specific. However, having done what I thought were all the upgrades, it was running fine, then all of a sudden it wouldn't let me upload a cd while a song was playing, and it wouldn't let me go into the edit songs database. I could click on it, but then it would just hang and then say I'd encountered a problem and windows had to close it.

I was concerned because previously I had been able to do all of those things. I then unfortunately let someone try to help me when I couldn't get the 2nd window to just pop open to the screen. I had to manually extend it, because when I double clicked to get it to open, it would open on my screen and not the 2nd screen. This person changed the compatability in Hoster to XP. I don't know where it was to begin with. Anyway I don't know what else happened but since then I've not been able to do the things I could before. I am still able to copy disks to my computer through it's cd burner, but I can't do it while someone is singing.

How do I reinstall? Will I lose my songs? Obviously I'm pretty green as far as the computer world goes.

The link has been rewritten to include the Windows 7 locations where it is different from Vista. Go through it again.

Then you are talking about importing a single track from a singer's personal disc (using the "Disc button) and not importing whole CDs through the "Import CD Tracks" tool for adding them to your songs database. Correct?
As far as the going into Edit Songs tool, this cannot be used when you are playing music, has been this for a long time, and is greyed out so you can't do it. Several functions are greyed out during play, including Show Display, Audio Controls, Edit Songs, Songs Database, CD/DVD Drives, Remove Silence, Options and both Import Songs utilities. This is to keep you from over-taxing the computer while playing.

I am not sure why this had to happen as no one else had to do it this way. If double click will not move it, then just drag it over and resize it to fill the screen. I would put it back to compatible with Windows 7.

I would first re-install as Mark suggested. To do this all you have to do is run again the Setup file you downloaded from MTU to install initially.
No you will not lose your songs. None of the song files or the database files are touched during reinstallation.

The problem is when I look at the compatibility section there is nothing there that says windows 7

Ok. Forget about that part and lets get on to the rest of this as it shouldn't make any difference in those functions.
