A small sound hic-cup

I upgraded to 8 and 9c and since then I seem to have about 5 sec into each song a small audio clitch which is more or less noticable for each song. I also noticed that all my sync got all screwed up between video and sound when I did the upgrade. I am running XP and I have tried reinstalling and it didn't help. I presume something was updated to the software to accomadate Vista. What a wonderful product Vista isAny suggestions...David

David,
Are you running a laptop or desktop? How much RAM?
When was the last upgrade to Windows you did?
What version did you upgrade from before 4.08?
Did you have these problems in both 4.08 4.09C?

1. It a desktop with 1.5Mg ram
2. Windows may of been around that time, I normally rely on the auto update.
3. I think it was 4.07
4. problem occurred when I installed 08, I was hoping that 09 was going to cure it.
I hope that gives you some insight

First thing is do not depend on Auto Update to keep your computer current. The only things downloaded and installed with Auto Update are those items deemed as critical for security by Microsoft.
So first thing you need to do is go here and follow all the steps:
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/xp-changes.htm

How much memory on your video card?

Video cards without enough memory (128 - 256mb) will cause and have all kinds of problems with the version 4 releases.

How big is your hard drive and how much free space is left?

What I am looking for here is whether your hard drive is getting filled up which will cause problems and generally is over looked when searching for the problem. It would not be a bad idea to delete all the temporary files for the computer and Internet Explorer every couple months and defragmenting the drives to help make things run better.

I think the sync problem is because of the audio glitch you are getting in each song. So if we can figure out the cause of that then the sync problem should go away.

The sound hiccup I once got a few nights ago occurred after importing a singers disk 's song into the playlist. That was the only time I had ever seen a hiccup. It occurred once evry 30-40 seconds every song after the import took place. never has happened again as I haven't taken any imports in yet either. Just wondering if somehow these events are related to each other. I was using H4.08 too and running XP on a 1.5 gB ram laptop that usually displays videos quite well, and no other programs were running at the same time or in the background.

had you imported any singer's disk in?

I imported singer disc into play list 3 times last night and never experienced a hiccup. Running Vista 2gig ram, Core 2 Duo Processor in a Dell XPS M1530.

Are you running any Anti-virus software? Some of these can cause a problem. Or you could have a virus that is possibly causing it.
Think about when this started and what have you installed about that time that may be running in the background?

Retart your computer then close Norton anti-virus (make sure you are off line so you don't put your computer at risk ) and see if that stops the hic-up.
