4.08 says bad drive

Hoster 4.08 says my LG electronics internal HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20 WX05 is a bad drive. All previous versions up to 4.06 have been able to use this drive. I have a Lenovo R61i 7950lu with 3 gigs of ram and a 1.66 gig dual core processor running Win XP Pro.
I have been forced to run Hoster 34 for several months, because only the earliest 4. versions ran properly on this machine.
I have high hopes for 4.08 because of the lyrics speed control and I will try it for a show. But I realy want it to use my internal drive so I won't need another piece of equipment for every show.
Does anyone have any ideas re a fix or work around?

This is known issue that MTU is addressing.

If you pressed cancel instead of save the drive will work even though it is marked as bad. Have you tried importing a CD+G track yet?

If the drive isn't working, this fix will get you going until the issue is resolved:

http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=11335

Let me know how it goes. There is one other fix that I can give you if this doesn't get you going. It's not as bad as it seems.

If you check the forum there are a couple of threads on this. This is a bug in 4.08 that is effecting a few but not everyone.
You can try setting the drive up in 3.4 and see if it stays set to good in 4.08. If that won't change it try using the drive anyway as those who could not get it to reset have been able to use their drives even though they are showing as bad. Just click cancel when the drive dialog comes up when you start Hoster.

I tried the procedure from the link that you posted. I got all the way to the drive test window in 4.08 but the cancel button stayed greyed out and the only option available was save. I closed the window using Task Manager so no data was saved. What was the other fix that you mentioned? I'll try anything, my wife is eager for the features in 4.08.

If you select the drive in 3.321a before you reinstall 4.08 you won't see the Select drive window when you open 4.08. Here are the steps.

1. Reinstall 4.08 selecting the Clear Registry check box. (do not open 4.08 at this time)

2. Uninstall 4.08

3. Install 3.321a

4. SELECT YOUR DRIVE USING 3.321A

5. Reinstall 4.08

This fix seemed to work for me once but is not working now. I'm not sure what I did. I sent you a PM with another fix that is working for me. Please let me know if it worked for you.

madjim,
Your advice and solution were the BEST. we are already enjoying 4.08 and I must admit. I was getting frustrated with the 4. versions. I have regained my long held appreciation for MTU products and will resume recomending them when the oportunity arises.
Not sure who Dale is but many thanks.

Hey Tela,
Are you comfortable making adjustments to your registry?

Dale saved us some time. I'm cautious to post registry changes. If somebody is not careful and changes the wrong thing, it can cause major headaches.

Let us know if the fix gets you going.
