Angry A ZIP trick now gone in 4.06

When you import a song into Hoster prior to to version 4 you could change the extension from .kma to .zip Then you could play these songs in other programes like Winamp and Virtual DJ. However, this can not be done anymore to .kma files from Hoster 4. Bummer for me, because I like to make up some mixes in Virtual DJ and record them and then perform them in my gigs. I also like to use winamp at my pro singing gigs because I can set a preference to skip silence in a song. I have requested this feature to MTU and believe it is on it's way. Anyway, now I have to do two imports, 1 in a Hoster 3 and then in a Hoster 4. I use Hoster 4 for strickly karaoke shows.

Does anyone (guru) know how to have a .kma file play in any other program? Or have the guiness's at MTU closed that loophole?

They are no longer stored as .zip files. Try changing the extension to .mp3 and see if that works.

Stef,
What I do is keep all my files in zip form and store them on an ext. HD. Once I "songvert" these zips from zip to zip, they are all pretty much guaranteed to play on VDJ as karaoke zip files. I import all my songverted zip files to kma for hoster to play for karaoke.
Bryant

Now you could convert your kma's to zip using songverter and use those zips for VDJ.

What version of VDJ u on now?

Bryant, Hi. I am using VDJ 5.2pro

I'll get a copy of songvertor and do as you suggest. Have you tried it?

It's easier to search a song and find the disc id using Hoster. Then select the song in the folder and copy that one to another folder for use in VDJ. Trying to find a song in the zip folder is hard.

Cheers

Stef

a preference to skip silence in a song. I have requested this feature to MTU and beli

I've requested this feature also way back over the last 4 or 5 years. I thought it was going to be implemented early this year. Do MTU still have plans to introduce this feature. I'm not being negative or criticizing MTU, but it would be nice to know so I could make other plans.

It's always a good idea to make other plans. It's like back up. In this day and age you always need back up. Murphy's Law. To answer your question.... I have no idea.

I believe it hasn't been abandoned, just pushed back. The next revision due out early next year should have cross fade.

Ditto on Shuttle; 5.2, but 4.3 still on laptop.
