my setup is as follows

before buying those recording or editing software and usb mixer make sure you dont have a vista media center edition, they wont work due to hardware compatibility, i'll stay away with behringer if i were you,(you couldn't pay me enough to use one), i am partial to mackie products, dfx6 or cfx 12 mixing boards ($99- & 299) it has all the efx you need for recording and you'll have a better sound quality, and of course it depends on your speakers too, i use srm 450 active speakers myself..and also if you do a recording you might wanna get yourself a studio monitors, i use krk products ( cost a bit though ( $249 ea. i have 4 of them plus a 10" sub all active ) so i know it cost a lot, but you'll have a better sound quality and these stuff will last , have mine for over 6 yrs. now and havent replaced any of them yet..

you might wanna check what software youre buying first, i know that there's only a few recording/editing software or dj doftware that will work with media center, the only one that worked with mine was pcdj and mixmeister, and i know that some of the products that wont work was all Lexicon, all m-audio, yamaha usb mixing board and some i couldnt think of right now, (i know there's a lot of them..)but like i said check the product first, before buying. try going to m-audio web site and they have a link and also list of products that wont work with media center..

i was looking for a mackie dfx 6, to use in my studio, and they didn't have it at that time, so i decided to buy a behringer, ( looked nice )bought the ub2442fx, since people at the store knows me, and they know what kind of gears i have ,they kinda looked at me like....but anyway i took it home plugged everything ..i was so dis-appointed, " sounds like a thin can", the efx sounds like one of those home karaoke mics, but anyway i ended up selling it to a friend of mine for $100.box and etl..

All I run are Behringer mixers....none sound like tin cans and have absolutely no probs with them. Mackie's are nice but Behringer is just as nice for half the money. Just my two cents.
