Crashing again when loading customers disc

I am using 3.10, and when importing from a customers disc, hoster will either freeze up or my pc will completely lock up. The disc this happens with is an original top tunes multisession disc, and up until saturday would onlt screw up when trying to read the last track. But Saturday night, the customer chose another song offthat disc, and it also froze up, even tho I had gotten at least one good song off that disc that night. I thought we had all these problems taken care of with 3.08, but the problem has returned. Help! I cannot run a show with a pc thats gonna freeze up on me and have to reboot everynight. This is a MAJOR problem.

Which Top Tunes disk was it. I don't have many TT but if I have one of the same I could check it on my Hoster.

Since yours is the first to report a problem since 3110 was released I would be inclined to think it's an anomaly with that particular cdg.
I've had customers disks with hairline cracks that were impossible to see unless you held it up to the light, cause Hoster to crash although it's been many many months. Also look for chipped or peeling label, that can cause problems long before a scratch will. And of course theres the obvious big nasty scratch which I'm sure you would have already noticed.

I have actually looked for those cracks and scratches. I couldn't find any, but then the lighting in the room wasn't all that great. I do not know the disc #, but next time I will get it.

My point tho is this...whether or not it is a good disc or bad, it should not crash hoster. No matter what hoster should not freak out and freeze up like it has been doing. I can understand it if it would display an error message and cancel the operation of the import, but to freeze up hoster or lock up the entire pc where I would have to reboot mid-show? I know we can all agree that something isn't right here and this is not acceptable.

Mine is still locking up as well. I opened another thread on this a while back with no real resolution other than it was an issue with the burner, but since MTU built my show PC I assume the hardware should be appropriate.

I was doing a show Sunday and someone brought in a Top Tunes disc and I had no other programs running...inserted the TT disc into the drawer, clicked on CDG to add the track and as soon as I went to rip it, all the music stopped...the wipes locked and the show came to a screeching halt.

Upgrading has not solved my issue. My show PC stays parked unless I am doing private shows. For public shows where customers bring their own discs, my PC is useless unless I run another CDG player in tandem for that purpose, and that is too much like work.

It sucks that this is happening, but I am glad I am not the only one experiencing this. Just to be sure, I checked to make sure it was up to date with microsoft xp updates, and it was completely up to date so thats not the problem. I am hoping 3.2 will solve the issue with its multisession discs. But do multisession discs crash hoster? We still haven't heard from MTU since I posted this. I would have posted this to the original thread, but since 3110 came out, the topic was closed.

I have an issue with the Singer's Window, on the Singer's Monitor, disappearing, when READING IN a Trk from a Singer's CDG Disc. It is during the KMA Conversion PHASE and NOT the Reading PHASE when this happens. This ONLY happens when the SND (Singer's Name Display) is ON.

I use the SND in FULL SCREEN mode, which shows the order that Singer's will sing when a SONG is NOT Playing. So, when I Click PLAY, the PLAYING SONG OVERLAYS the SND.

It doesn't happen every time, but, when it does, the SND comes to the front and OVERLAYS the PLAYING SONG.

So, I am NOT CRASHING, but I am experiencing some anomaly.

Now, ON EVERY OCCASION, if I turn the SND OFF, before I perform a READ of a Singer's CDG, the aforementioned problem NEVER occurs.

This doesn't apply to MediaCloq'd Discs, as I have not had the occasion to try to READ a Trk from this type of Disc.

However, it would be nice to find out, from those who are experiencing CRASHING during the READING of a NON-MEDIACLOQ'd Disc, and, those who have had their SND ON during these READS, if Hoster would NOT Crash if they turned OFF their SND, before they performed a READ of a Singer's Disc.

I didn't ask if anyone had a problem with the SND.

What I asked is that the SND be truned off, ONLY WHEN READING A SINGER'S CDG TRK into the PLAYLIST, to see if that PREVENTS the Computer from Crashing.

Aaaa Click of the SND Button turns the SND back on.

Info on Computer Specs of those CRASHING would be helpful.

I misunderstood the question. I will try that out tomorrow night and see if it works. I am sure once again the girl will bring that messed up disc. I would be willing to risk a crash just to see what happens...Hell I 'll make a big production of it and paly it off with the crowd. " Okay everybody...I have been given the majic computer crashing disc. Lets see if it kills my computer again..."
.
Here are my specs:

Compaq Presario Laptop 3.0 ghz 1.0g ram
windows xp fully updated
60 gig internal hd
250 gig WD USB HD
plextor USB DVD drive from MTU

I use winamp in the background for my bumper music, if that helps.

Unhappy

Ok Here is my problem but no crashes.

Last night during my show a customer gave me his disc (Sweet Georga Brown) to load while another singer was singing. As the disc was loading the audio started skipping on the current singer, I had to hit the cancel button to stop the load and also had to reset the current singers song because the words and audio didn't jive together. I also tried to load one of my New sound choice disc and still had the problem. This is the first time I have had this problem since I updated from Hoster 2.219 Software. This problem started after upgrading to Hoster 3.110. HELP! I have many singers that bring there own disc so I need to problem cleared up...
Thanks

Did this happen the FIRST time you tried to load a Song from a Singer's Disc?

Because, if it is, you may want to try to READ a CDG Trk into the Playlist before your Show starts, and see if all subsequent Songs, from Singer's Discs, load OK.

I know it is not a fix, but it may be a way to resolve the problem, for now.

Importing and Audio/Skipping

I did try to load CDG tracks (here at home)and it works fine however that was without a singer. So in other words I can import CDG'S without audio problems by itself and no singer. It seems like this program can't do to many functions at once, I know its not my computer cause I never had this problem before I upgraded. I feel like deleting 3.110 and reinstalling the 2.219 software

Adding a CDG at home is NOT the same as doing it before your Show starts.

At your Show, your Computer is turned "ON" and stays "ON" until your Show is over.

There have always been people Posting problems with Hoster since Hoster was 1st released. Sometimes these problems are unique to a Computer. Sometimes, people just like an older version...Like 2.219.

And, sometimes we just have to find a way to make a particular version work in order to take advantage of all the NEW features that are programmed in upgrades.

"Problems" aren't easy to resolve when they cannot be duplicated in a step-by-step procedure where a problem appears after following said procedure.

Over the years, there have been MANY POSTINGS expressing concerns that Hoster didn't act right when either starting a Show or IMPORTING at home, which could mean that the 1st Song didn't Sweep right or the 1st read of a Singer's CDG didn't read right or, during IMPORTING, the 1st CDG didn't read correctly, only to find out that, after the PLAYING, READING, and IMPORTING of the 1st Song, Hoster performed perfectly from that point on.

These are my SHOW Computer Specs:
Windows XP Professional (OEM 5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Processor AuthenticAMD SEMPRON 2500+
Total Physical Memory – 512MB DDR333 RAM
Motherboard – MSI KT4-V
Video – Matrox P750 Triple Head – 64MB Memory
DirectX Version – 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Audio – Audigy 2 - FULL Acceleration
Using Hoster Audio Buffer A Setting
HD - 160GB ATA 100 7200RPM Western Digital on IDE 1
DVD-Plextor (PX-716A) – Firmware 1.08 - Internal on IDE 2
HD – 250GB ATA 100 7200RPM Western Digital on IDE 2

It is in no way as fast as your Computer, but I do not have any problems Crashing, NO AUDIO DROPS, Problems with Reading a CDG, and problems with Importing.

And, v3.110 has been installed and in use since v3.110 was released.

So, if you want to keep using 3.110, I am suggesting that you turn down the Volume on your MIXER, Start the PLAY of a Song, and READ a CDG into your PLAYLIST after you get set-up and your Computer is turned "ON" prior to starting your SHOW, to see if that helps.
