Any Ideas for import problem???
Had this posted for several days. Lots of views but no suggestions. Just trying again. If i can't find the problem I will be forced to remove Hoster 3.0 and go back with older version.
![]() I have many *Custom Assembly* discs. I now have a version of ie. BOOKID#1603 that I want to replace with a different version. (going from SD to Chartbuster) I would simply redo the disc with Micro Studio and then import back into Hoster. Hoster used to allow me to do this. The newest version has a pop up that states: "The book id you have selected is already in use. Please select or type another book id." How do I import a different version of the same song into the same bookid. Thanks, Kelly |

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
Hi Kelly,
See if this will get it for you. TOOLS EDIT SONGS Bring the song you want up by any of the search methods.BOOK ID, SONG or ARTIST Higlight it by clicking on the book id. At the bottom of the page click on the DELETE button. This should completely remove it. Build the new database. You can then re-use the same book ID if you wish(I think) Take Care, George |

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
Thanks George, I'll give it a try. It's really got me stumped though; before all I had to do was put the disc in, bring up import; type in the disc #; it would show all the songs that we're on the disc;then check the song I want to re-import. Now course it won't let me,...so I will give your idea a try. thanks again.

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
Kelly,
I believe you can still do it the way you just described, but it has to be an exact replacement. For example, SC 8118, track 2 for SC8118, track 2.This is the case of a bad import, or you decide to change the comprssion rate, etc. You simply put the disc in and re-import. What you're trying to do is replace one brand with another, and that's a different horse. You first have to get rid of the existing file, id and all and enter the new one fresh. I believe that's the way it works.(I think ![]() Take care, George |

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
maybe MTU should create a option to overwrite a song rather than have the book id after its used to be blank. so there wont be any mistakes or overwrite that you dont want, put up warning screen that you are about to change the database 2 times !

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
No George. This is the way it has ALWAYS worked since I had Hoster:
ie. I have a disc (Custom Assembly) Disc is #16. It has say 20 songs on it. Different mfg. SC, CB etc. Say song #3 on disc 16 is a CB mfg. I might want to replace it with a SC version. The song # (bookid is 1603). I would use Micro Studio; record all tracks with the exception of #3. I then re-record the disc and insert the SC version for #3. I then have a new custom assembly disc. I would take it, put it in the drive, bring up Hoster, import, type in disc 16; all the songs would show on the disc. I would simply check number 3 and re-import. Now bookid #1603 would be same song just with the SC version instead of the CB version. It's alsways been so simple. I've never had to delete anything. Just can't figure out way it no longer is allowing me to do this. I will try it again when I get home tonight and if all else fails will try your suggestion about delelting the intire disc and reimporting from scratch. Thanks for the help. Kelly |

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
That happen's to me sometime. Every once in a while I have to go in and delete the disc and it will reinport it under the same id. Has anyone noticed when importing CB. There is a listing in the db for Pro Country and a listing for Professional Country. I have many CB and I don't know what the difference is. Both Pro and Professional lists the same disc # as in 60322 ect.

Re: Any Ideas for import problem???
George,
I tired it at lunch. I had to delete the whole disc and re-import to just change one song. It's works but it is far more complicated than the old way of simply poping the disc in and re-importing the one song. Maybe I'll finally figure out what's wrong. Thanks, Guys |
