other computer karaoke compatability issues

i have been using a pc to do karaoke for 3 years now and i wouldn't do karaoke any other way. My question to you people that use the hoster software is simply this. I have all of my music already encoded on my hard drive using CAV's. This prosess was not an overnight thing and it took me months to get it done and the books and so on and so on.

Can I use the music that has been encoded onto the hd now under CAVS and just switch the program over to hoster or do I start from scratch?

Any comments about this topic or anything that compares cavs to hoster will be appreciated.

Anyone that wants to know about cavs.... My opinion is that the code in the win 98 version is full of bugs... when the program is used in conjunction with a dj program to play bground music, it will blue screen and dump on you all the time.....If you have a big book or multi books in ms word....it will make the words skip...even with a 2300 mghz pc....in short....the program sux and i am willing to spend 300 to look at a program that "MIGHT" be better cavs sux so bad....But hey, that is just my opinion....try it 4 yourself....you might like it.......honesty about hoster is appreciated....if u get deleted say so and I will add an email.

you can't convert the CAVS karaoke files to hoster.. but it is worth it to buy hoster and re-import the songs. it is without a doubt the best thing ever made for karaoke.

Wink Hey... are you implying I delete posts?

We let the truth be told.

Hey, why do you think this is a PUBLIC FORUM, open for you to see and even post your questions? You don't find that at our competitors. It is VERY CLEAR why they hide it.

Now, we don't play CAVs songs as they are in a proprietary format that only CAVs plays.

I believe they have a $69.95 converter program that takes a .mpg CAVs file and converts it to a true .cdg file (that's audio with the graphics/lyrics RW codes embeded correctly). I hope someone else will address this if they have any experience with this CAVs converter.

Our next release of Hoster we are working on right now will have a command that will allow you to convert true .cdg files to our .kma file format and store them in our Songs Database. That way, you have full database search by BookID, Song name or Artist name... using any partial string to find your song. And... you can sort your found list by BookID, Song name, Artist name, or Brand name.

Hoster has been polished to run with other programs running concurrently. Not just song book software (BTW: Hoster has a Song Book printing feature built-in ), but other DJ programs that play audio files. No problems!

We'll see what others have to say. I know we have some "ex CAVs users" now running Hoster.

BTW: Thanks for the testimonial on CAVs. I added it as a Hoster Testimonial, and hopefully you will soon be a Happy Hoster User and come back and finish your testimonial.
