Re: Questions 'bout this Program

Rockrz,

Microstudio is part of the MTU Suite of programs, that, used in their intended catagory, will give you the complete Hosting pleasure of a Karaoke show, whether it be the Home Hobbiest, or the Professional KJ...

The others that have responded to your inquiry, have given some very sound information...

I see you have been a member of this forum for 7 years, and probably are just a little dumbfounded by all the features that the current Hoster (5.20) software that you are TRYING to use in the way that you prefer, isn't filling the bill... Give us some more information on how and when you use the program... Home Recording? Home Party's? Commercial Shows?

I think it's been a while since you have read the users manual... at least browse the sections that pertain to your questions, and needs!

We all use Hoster to suit our needs, and the company (MTU) has given us the most powerful hosting software on the market! IMHO

Once you get Hoster 5.20 working and playing and searching your database correctly, let us know if you still want to use Microstudio to run your shows?

Good Luck!

We are here to steer you in the right direction, just give us a chance, once you give us a little more information, and try to decipher using the User Manual what the Hoster Program is capable of!

I've already posted that I will use Hoster to import songs for I can control exactly how the songbook appears, and Microstudio to host shows so I can simply and easily sort songs by artist or by song and be able to see the entire songbook containing both artist and song and be able to record singers as they sing...

So, I'm already seeing exactly how these programs will fit my needs. Even though I joined the board a long time ago, I just purchased the software a couple of months ago and am just now buying CD+Gs and importing them as this is a side gig for me as I work a regular day job at about 70+ hours a week.

So, no dumbfounding going on here... just working with the software and seeing how to use it as best fits my needs. I understand that others may choose to use the software in other ways as is their right to do so.

Thanks for answering my questions.

I would look into the legalities of recording a singer at a commercial show, if that is one of your criteria for using Microstudio to host! Copyright Protection, and all that! For home use... not a problem!

I have read all your questions and all the responses to your questions. I wonder, have you tried the songbook that you can create in Hoster? It gives you a lot of choices in setting it up. It is important to import your songs correctly or you are not going to have good results in your quest to sort Artist, Song, etc. Hoster is a very in debt program and offers many, many options. Like any new program there is a learning curve. To be successful with Hoster you need to start with the manual. Things that may not be clear can be sorted out by asking your questions here on this forum. It appears you have been running your shows with Microsudio and that is fine if it suits your needs but it doesn't come close to running a show with Hoster. You are correct, you can not record your singers using Hoster and that has already been addressed by others. Keep learning the program and you will be amazed at the power it offers. Good luck,

Walt

Re: Questions 'bout this Program

The songbook creation is not an issue, I would just rather not have to search for a song / artist to find it which is apparently how Hoster works, whereas Microstudio is more like a spreadsheet where you can sort by song or by artist and click on the song you want it it starts playin.

I'm sure it's just a personal preference thing on my end. Someone mentioned that they are thinking of setting up Hoster to be able to do this as well, so if they do I'll be sure and grab that upgrade.

You do realize if you just place * in the search window, it will list all your indexed songs. From there you can list them in alphabetical order by song title, artist, ect. by clicking on the header of the particular category you want.

WMA imports at 192 tops - not 128. There really is not audible difference between a 192 ripped wma/kma vs a 320 ripped mp3g file.
But if I were to do it all again, I'd probably do the mp3g rips simply so I could take my files to other shows to sing if I wanted without having to convert them.

Wasn't aware of that, so I'll tinker with it and check it out. Thanks!

You are welcome. I really think when you start seeing all the things you can do with Hoster you will be a believer!
