Unable to rebuild database
I have rebuilt my database many times in the past as short of time as yesterday. I deleted quite a bit of songs and now need to rebuild it but am unable to. I uninstalled the program several times with no luck. I also can't search for songs either. I also have a problem with the dual display. my small monitor shows only half if I fit the show by stretching and resize it manually. Sometimes I can't even do that. I have to close Hoster and start all over. Any ideas? Thanks Alan

Re: Unable to rebuild database
Which version of Hoster are you using ?
Also which version of Windows are you running ? Did you upgrade or install any other programs just before this happened ? How did you delete the songs, was it through the edit dialog ? Can you play any songs at all ? First from your Build songs database dialog, are all the folders listed in the bottom left Payne showing correct ? If your songs are on an external hard drive does the volume letter match the file paths showing in the file paths list ? It is quite possible that when you connected an external drive that windows changed it's drive letter, if this is the case you can reset it by following these instructions http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...&id=4&relid=10 When you say "my small monitor shows only half if I fit the show by stretching and resize it manually" Are you referring to the computer main dialog or the small preview screen in the main dialog or the extended monitor? One thing you can try first for this, from the Tools Menu/options press the reset displays button.

Re: Unable to rebuild database
Thanks Roy,
to answer your first question 505.12 win xp home 2nd the songs are still there in the correct folders COLOR="DarkRed"]3rd no 4th yes 5th there is no external drive 6th one screen size is 20" and the other is 32". Sometimes when I try to size the screen manually the display will not let me. I try resetting the display and I am still unable to resize them I have to restart Hoster. When I am able to resize the larger screen so that my marquee and singers line show the smalled screen only shows half the the display with everything displayed. I go to edit songs and select the song, then next to the artist I insert the singers name and hit apply. Yesterday when I did this I spaced after the original singers name then inserted (ie) jones, george /cecil. I don't know if this caused the problem or not Thanks again Alan |

Re: Unable to rebuild database
Roy, I found the problem with the rebuild database. It was as thought it might be you can't have any spaces after the singer name. you have to put the / or whatever symbol with no spaces. Still don't know what the other problems are. Can't change the disk drive to (C) as it is a system drive/boot. Guess I will just have to buy a bigger capacity drive Still don't know about the display Thanks Alan

Re: Unable to rebuild database
if these problems only started recently can you use system restore and choose a date just prior to when the problems started.
Other than that when you re-installed did you tick the box that appears in one of the install screens for clear all settings ? If not try that as it should rebuild the registry, only thing is you may lose all your instabutton settings. How much free space is left on your hard drive? If you don't go to my computer right click on hard drive and select properties. You should have at least 25% free space for Hoster to work properly. Regarding the screen problem, in the top right hand corner of the main Hoster interface you have 3 icons - to shrink it to the task, the x to shut down but the middle one sends it to full screen or allows you to resize the sceen by stretching the corners, is this stuck in full screen ? Other than that check out your screen resolutions for each monitor. to do that right click on desktop select properties then settings, when you see the 2 monitors shown side by side try selecting the # 1 monitor and change it's resolution then try the same with monitor 2 also right click each screen and choose properties and check all the settings seem ok with no messages giving error messages. after any changes press apply and OK.

Re: Unable to rebuild database
For some reason my hoster allowed me to rebuild the database. I clone my hdd's but the second one would not let me rebuild. As far as the screen resolution I have tried many different combinations none seem to make any difference. As far as restore I have found out over the years that it is not very reliable. I guess I may have to set a new restore point each time b4 making any changes. Don't weven know why microsoft even put it in any of their op systems. I can get my database to rebuild on my external drive but it only rebuild a folder named kma and not kma1 Who knows what is going on. I will just keep playing with until I figure it out. Thanks Again Alan
