VCDs not available

imported playlists OK but VCD playlist coming up unavailable. Message appears saying re-connect drive D however all VCD songs are on new external drive labelled E. Other playlists OK just VCD ones. How do I redirect this playlist to drive E without having to re-enter all songs again and key changes? Thanks

Re: VCDs not available

If you are referring to the .hst files I don't know of any way to change the path for these.
Are only your VCD disc on the external drive ?
You can change the volume letter of the external drive to D if it's free but that is normally the CD/DVD drive.

The instructions for changing the Drive letter are here: http://www.mtu.com/kb/kb/index.php?a...e&id=4&relid=1

They should be much the same for Windows 7 or 8.

Re: VCDs not available

Thank you very much for replying.

Unfortunately I have all the other songs on the same E drive in different folders. When I moved all the .hst files in their respective folders onto new hard drive they all worked except for the VCD's

Re: VCDs not available

I don't know an answer to your problem but just curious. Where the other song files that do show up in the playlist always on the E drive ?
Where your video files on another drive or petition ?

Re: VCDs not available

Thanks. The other files were on the original 'D' drive along with the VCD's. I transferred them to the new external hard drive when I upgraded my computer.

I am from way down south here in Dunedin, New Zealand. Been a staunch Hoster and MTU supporter for many years and I think from memory have only requested information once before. Thank you for this great product.

Re: VCDs not available

Seeing as you say the other files were on the D drive and they still work it must be that Hoster rebuilds those links.
I'll check with support to see if they know the answer.

I work with Playlists constantly and still use ones I created back in 2006. Playlists only remember the "path" to where the songs were when you added them to the Playlist. Your songs work because they refer to the same "drive letter-E". Since your VCDs were on "D" and you now have the on "E", then you have no choice but to re-add those VCDs to your playlists & re-save. Then they will always be there.

Re: VCDs not available

I believe (but I may be wrong) that newer versions of Hoster will do their best to find files that you have moved. If you added songs from your Songs Database, then they have BookIDs associated with them. If the file cannot be found, then Hoster will use the BookID to look up the entry in the Songs Database, and the new path can be quickly resolved.

If you added songs using the "K-oke", "Audio", or "Video" buttons, however, they do not come with BookIDs, so they do not have any other method to resolve incorrect paths. Hoster simply cannot find them at their previous locations.
