Thumbs down 5.02 & 5.03 cannot "merge" duplicate BookIDs

The problem is that I have songs that aren't the same...that have the same bookID. For example, I imported several thousand songs on one computer that has Hoster. They were all imported as Kma's. It numbered them in order, of course.

On my main computer that I host from, I tried to add those songs, but since they have the same book ids (not disc id's)...and they are different songs...hoster crashes. It lets me add one folder OR the other...but not both.

On previous versions of hoster there was a way to merge songs and renumber duplicate bookID's. Doesn't seem to be the case with version 5.

You are correct Tony in that Hoster 5.02 doesn't have a merge capability. It was unfortunately disabled with all the changes made. MTU is working to get this fixed as soon as they can for the future.
Right now the best we can offer is to uninstall 5.02, reinstall 4.32 get your database straightened out and duplicate BookIDs cleared up with the merge. Then re-install 5.02 with the corrected database. It should work ok then as all the songs will be assigned different BookIDs. And that way you can use the new features added so far in 5.0 too. Sorry but that seems to be the only way to fix this at the moment.
One thing I do is only use one computer to import with and it has a master database, so that it doesn't create duplicate BookIDs. It always knows what the next available number is.

Re: 5.02 & 5.03 cannot "merge" duplicate BookIDs

Tony, we are sorry this function got lost in the massive upgrades we added in 5.00 and higher.

In the Import Songs (menu command) shows the "Songs Database" dialog we will add a "Merge Dupes" button that will open the ...log.txt file containing all found duplicates, and renumber their BookID's to non conflicting numbers and index them in the Songs.mdb Database.

We were trying to allow Super CDG files (1,000+ assigned to the same DiscID) to be indexed. Hoster, since 2001 has had a "forced" rule of one DiscID gets one BookID. To import Super CDG files, we must allow one DiscID to have MANY BookIDs. We have been working on this in background.

For an IMMEDIATE solution, my suggestion is to restore Hoster 4.32, rebuild the Songs Database and click the "Merge" button.

IMPORTANT! Make sure the list of folders to include contains ALL your new ones with the files with duplicate BookIDs.

None.
At this moment in time you can only have 99 tracks per Disc ID.
