10 second delay when I hit play
![]() Version 4.20 XP SP3 All updates When I hit the play button I have to wait about 10 seconds before there is a response from Hoster. I have already set the audio controls all to a zero setting. I have tried with and without the remove silence option. When I click on play and then click on it again again a few times a (not responding) appears. The hour-glass appears and I can't do anything to Hoster during this. The Stop is greyed out during this until the music starts. it happens with my CDCDG, HDMP3G, HDZIP files as well as Audio files. When in auto mode, there is no problem, during a skip or at the end of a song. Is there a registry fix for this or something? Please Stef |

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
Have you got Roxio version 6 or earlier on this same computer ? I had issues of this nature in earlier Hoster versions until I Un-installed Roxio.
Roxio V6 and earlier has known conflicts with Hoster. Other than that try running Hoster with your spy ware shut down if you are not on-line at the time to see if there is a conflicts there. Roy. |

No Roxio, but I'll look deeper for some other conflicts.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
Look at you C: drive and see how much free space. If less than 25% that is bad and will slow things down. Also defragment drive.
I would suggest a system clean-up program too to clean up Windows and get it running faster.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
Hi Dale,
42% Free Space. and a defrag has made no difference. Done the registry clean and stuff. It takes about 20 seconds for Hoster to load too. |

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
try pressing alt.cont.delete and see if you have anything running in the background, is the 10 sec. delay before the song starts ,and also does this happen on all the songs, or just random..sometimes there are songs that will take some time before you'll hear the tunes and before the graphics shows up..i get that problem on certain songs..10 sec. is not really that long, i usually click play before i call the next singer in,and hit pause when the credits dis-appear on the screen, i know it's not a solution to the problem, but it's probably the only way for now to get your show going...

However, what did you use for registry cleanup? I use a program called System Mecahnic. It does a great job of stripping out garbage from the registry without chancing a mistake that stops programs from working. It will also defragment the registry, remove hidden temporary files and a whole lot more. First time I used it I was amazed how much faster my 5 year old XP computer ran. Are you song files on an internal or external drive? Billyo is right you need to see what other background processes are running and see if anything is hogging the processor time.

Songs are on internal. Cleaned reg with Spotmau. I might have to do a clean system re-install. Cheers Stef |

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
How much RAM memory do you have on that computer?
Is it a laptop or desktop?

2GB Ram. Desktop, dual Core. I have a Note Book as well that has no problems with Hoster.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
How old is the desktop? If you have been using it for a long time and cleaning and defragging hasn't helped you may need to start from scratch and reload it. Microsoft XP is notorious for slowwing down the longer you use it.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
The only times that I have seen this is when there are other issues in the computer that are causing this to be so slow.
It should take less than 1 full second, or even 1/2 second for it to open. Have you run Ad-aware Programs to find out if you have any type of Spam in the system, or virus'es? I would do this and see what happens. I would download version 4.21 to see if that makes any difference, you can get it from HERE.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
i thought i upgraded to 4.21, but when i checked what version i had i yesterday, i found out that i still have the 4.20, but anyway i upgraded yesterday, and everything is fine, the only thing i noticed was, when i double clicked on a song or clicked on the add track, to add on the playlist, and while a song is playing, the marquee, kinda stop rolling for a sec. then it goes back up when the song is added in the playlist.not a big deal, just wondering if it's been like that , and i just didnt notice it, but anyway all is good....no 10 sec. delay, when i clicked on a song to play, it opens right up, plays right away after the credits fades out.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play
Stefan, try removing and reinstalling Hoster. If that doesn't work,do as MTUSUPPORT recommends. I had to do this recently on my Laptop. Things just get farkled over 3-5 years.
