song book help

Ok i have never used the song book feature so i would be very grateful for any pointers

I use KSLC normally

but i would like to print a book like this format

Artist(on everyline) a space then the Title of the song then a large space and then brand brand so something like this

Elvis Presley Hound Dog Music Maestro
Elvis Presley Suspicious Minds Sunfly

I have played with the formatting and i cant seem to get it to do this its always ; between the lines is there a easy way of doing this ?
I have office xp so have word and excel but i lack real knowledge on how to use them apart from on a very basic level. with so many tracks it would take ages to do each line manually

if its not possible fair enough i will have to do it manually

No it isn't possible in the songbook. All the items are separated by a comma and one space. You could create it and then edit it in Word and that would be easier than creating manually in Word.

From the songbook tab select the radio buttons you require, Top line Select format ="By Artist" then tick box" include artist with each song" and then I would click" Last name first" then" The & A at the end". The last two items will be to your preferences. Then in the select fields box select" Artist, Title, Brand", then" None" and "none again in the last box where book id or disk id would be".
Now select your range of songs to print, so select entire song book then create.

This will create a file in the folder C/MTU/Hoster folder named Songbook.rtf

open this in either Microsoft Word or Works Wordprocessor.

When it opens in either of these the format will look like this
3 Doors Down; When I'm Gone; Power Hits CDG
38 Special; Hold On Loosely; All Hits
38 Special; Second Chance; NuTech

Now these instruction can be slightly different depending on your versions of these programs you have.
From the edit tab select Find, in the box enter ";" The Semi Colan not the quotes. then in the replace field enter a couple of spaces, then click find next then replace, if it looks right click replace all.

This will replace all the ; with a space. next go to edit and "Select Al"l then from the format tab select "Font" from the window you should be able to select a font that you like and bold or anything else, you should the end up with something like this:

38 Special　 Hold On Loosely　 All Hits
38 Special　 Second Chance　 NuTech

But by messing about with the formating you can achieve different layouts,
From inside these programs you can select to have 2 columns on a page saving you a lot of paper.

I usually select the entire songbook, copy and paste into an excel spreadsheet. from there i manually move each section (artist, song, manu) into the appropriate cell next to it. from that point on all you need to do is enter the information each time you purchase new songs. In my case, i get an email conformation of the songs and i can copy/paste from that email directly to the spreadsheet i created in excel. there are about a milllion ways to do it, but this works nicely for me.

Instead of copying the information into Excel you can import the data and set it to drop into the cells automatically.

DD, not to hi-jack the thread, but how does one do that? can it be done with office 2003 or does only 2007 do that?

Any Excel version can get external data and since it is all semi-colon separated, then that would be the delimiter.
Look in Excel for Get External Data. It differs from version to version as to where this is located. If you can't find it check in the Help Files for it and that should tell you where to find it and how to use it.

With Excel 2007 you can open the mdb data base file file directly. But this wont get a page printed like Robster was aking for.

In Excel 2007 click the data tab then from a panel on the left select "From Acces" then just navigate to your songs .mbd file and open it. In the small window that opens select the" Table" radio button and presto.
This isn't so easy in earlier versions to the best of my knowledge.

ok i will give that a go next week ..

i am seriously tired at the moment Hoster is working 4 gigs a week

Thursday 8 till 11
Friday 7 till 2am
saturday 8 till 2am
and sunday afternoons 4pm to 8pm

need to sleep Monday lol Tuesday i may have a go at this
