What version of Hoster?

First suggestion for slowness would be to increase RAM to at least 2GB and 4GB would be better if your computer can handle it. (By the way 1000MB is 1GB.)

I can't make any suggestion for the locking up when opening Edit Songs until you tell us the version of Hoster you are using.

Re: Hoster locks up when trying to open song edit

Then in that case try a re-install and check the box at the bottom of the information page to reset the registry settings. That should reset the Edit Songs screen to its default settings and allow it to open. It will reset everything else back to default as well, but that can't be helped.
I hope that 500GB drive is not your C: drive. If it is then no wonder you are running slow.
Why do you think you need to have your zipped files as KMA instead of KMH? You talk about getting rid of duplicates and that is one way of doing exactly that. No need to keep 2 copies (1 KMA and 1 original ZIP) at double the space on the computer. Instead you have the original ZIP and a 256 byte file.

Not quite sure what you are asking.

Re: Hoster locks up when trying to open song edit

I imported the zip files that were on an external hard drive to my E drive,, I should only have the kma on my E drive correct? The files are still on the external drive..

Re: Hoster locks up when trying to open song edit

If you imported them as KMA with 4.11 or older then yes. Which means you have two complete files For example, if a ZIP file is 5.4MB then you have a KMA file that is 5.4MB also, for a total drive space (split between both drives yes) of 10.8MB and it took you any where from 15 to 30 seconds to import that file.
Now if you import the same file using 4.20 you have a ZIP file of 5.4MB and a KMH file of 4KB (smallest size sector most drives are set too) and you don't need another copy on the external drive. Also the import time is roughly .1 of a second for each file.
This also applies for MP3+G, Video, MP3,and WMA files. The reason for doing this is all of these types are already compressed, so Hoster does not add any more compression to them. Also it allows you to be able to use any of these types in other programs without needing to have the original and a KMA file or in other words half to space taken up on your drives for multiple program use.
Read the whole section on Importing from Hard Drive in the manual. It gives very detailed explanation of this.

Small possibility is that Hoster is taking a long time to load the database for the auto fill function. Try making sure this is turned off in the edit screen. In 4.2 this was turned off by default (non-persistant) each time you open the screen largely for this reason although I've never heard of a half hour and normally the lockup wouldn't begin until a kma was selected for editing. Hence this is just a small possibility.
