Well you guys only have to put up with my "madness" every now and then, I have to deal with 24/7. (Oh and let's not forget about my wife, she has to live with with "Madjim" ![]() I've noticed that on every one of the ten or more computers I've had over the years that when new programs are added to the system, Windows SEEMS to adjust to the program load so to speak. Things like alocating memory and the such (again I'm just a user). In my post to Rick I said "Maybe this lets Hoster adjust to my system". I started the statment with maybe because I'm not a programer and really don't know what's going on. I only know what I see and that's what I try to explain. It was late when I typed this but I wanted help Rick. I see now I should have said "Maybe this lets WINDOWS adjust to HOSTER", this may have made more sense. ![]() Admin, I'm gald you could see through my "backwoods explaination" for your definition was right on the money. You understood what I ment even though what I said may have spun your head around. ![]() I have let Hoster 4.XX run for hours on every computer I put it on. I've always had success with Hoster 4.XX so anything I so that seems to work, I share with my fellow entertainers/Hoster users. As I learn more, my explanations will become more accurate. ![]() Thanks again for dealing with the "madness"! ![]() Jim ![]()

Rikki - Yep, I would say that is way to small to function well.

Have you gotten this to work or are you still having problems? Seems like your thread has been overrun by others.

Help me too, please!
I just upgraded to 4.06 from 4.05. I'm running Hoster on the same computer with XP MCE that I have been since 3.x.
I now have audio offset problems on ALL of my songs. The words are behind the music for all songs, but now the audio offset feature is gone. My audio driver is up to date, a very recent version. Please help! |

If you have read the rest of this thread you will notice that those who are having this sync problem now are finding out that their video card does not have enough memory. Recommended amount is 128 MB (256 would be even better.
How much video memory is on your computer? Have you done all the Custom updates from Microsoft? Have you tried all the suggestions in this thread, such as changing to 16 bit color from 32 bit?

I have 128 MB on my video card, and my box is up to date with all of MS's updates for XP. Setting the depth to 16 bits doesn't change a thing for me.

What are the specs of the laptop itself? What is the model of the video card?

Are you running wmp 9 or wmp 11. If you are running 11, role back to 9. It may fix your problem

It's a desktop tower with a separate video card.

MTU says at least 32 MB. I guess my question is what is the requirement. I know that 128 MB may provide better performance than 32 MB, but is 128 required by MTU for Hoster?

Laddie I think we are finding out that Admin needs to change those requirements to at least 64MB. It also says a 1GHz processor will work and from experience that isn't the case any more either.
Celeron and AMD processors are also prone to losing sync as they get hotter. Some of the lower end laptops don't have enough power (power supply) to keep everything running correctly. And keep in mind that those are absolute minimum requirements and will only work under ideal conditions. Nothing is ever ideal though.

Thanks Doug,
Two of my machines have 64MB and seem to work with XP. It has been my experience that undersized or underpowered CPUs present bigger performance problems than video cards. But you are correct; in the end, it is the total configuration that matters.

I have a ATI Radeon X300 card, by the way. Begin rant: Why doesn't Hoster play nice with Windows? It requires and Admin level account (which I would prefer not to have to grant to my kj), apparently doesn't work with WMP11 installed, and is generally hogging up more and more resources with each version, becoming bloatware. MTU should focus on making the karaoke part work better (customizing start and stop set points in songs, pitch-independent tempo control, etc.) and not waste resources with video jockey or audio features. There are plenty of other apps which do those much better than Hoster ever will. |

MTU will continue to be the market leader. I, for one, am very happy about some of the changes. I don't agree with all of the new features, but I am just one man. There are many more KJs out there that like the features that I don't care about (videos, for 1). But trying to please each and every person is impossible. I will continue to evolve my business with MTUs help. |

This Is Just My Opinion
All of us or some of us hoster users asked for these features, thinking these will make our show look good, and mtu and the beta testers work so hard and tried to provide all these request, blaming mtu for all the glitches thats going on in our computers is not fair, we should know ( or maybe not )that all these requested features will used a lot of resources, so for those of us that has an old comp/laptops, maybe it's time to upgrade to a better one,if we wanted to have all these features...this is just my opinion..

I have to disagree here Picolo. If you will look at my signature (below my picture) you will see that I use WMP11 on all three of my computers that run Hoster 4.XX.

By rolling back to WMP9, all you did was save enough system resources for your system to handle the load. This is not a problem with Hoster, it is only stressing your system as any upgraded program will ALWAYS do.
ATI uses a term called "HyperMemory". What this means is a clever marketing tool to mislead you in to thinking it has more memory than stated. The 128 meg HyperMemory card really only has 32mb of memory on board and the "borrows" the rest from slower system ram. So when MTU says 32mb is minimum, you are at the minimum. I would seriously consider an upgrade to the video card. Do your homework and find a card that is in your budget that has at least 128mb actual memory. You will not regret the investment. |
