getting ready to order a Shuttle system?

A lot of the barebones shuttle boxes speak of SATA and RAID as part of their mother boards. I have heard in some past posts some very troubling things were happening with "RAID" (which I do not even know what this is). Should I completely stay away from anything that has RAID SATA as part of it's system?

sata is just the new connection for your hard drive (instead of the ide cable). i mean its more than just the hook up.

raid will put your computer data to 2 hard drives (or more) at the same time.

Bryant, I use an IDE drive as my C (O/S) drive and a SATA drive for my song files. I do not use the Raid feature because of past problems with that type of setup and MTU programs. What RAID does for you is allow multiple drives to act as 1 and other functions.

I see, thanx. The motherboard says "RAID" support, but I can ignore it. I think I will.
