Angry Just Bought a New Computer -Video Lag Issues

Okay I just bought a New Laptop with all the bells and whistles and everything works fine except one BIG problem (specs for my system AKA System 1 in my signature)

Problem: A BIG part of my show is not only the Karaoke Selection, but the fact that I actually VJ (A Lot) During the Show. Which means I must be able to play the latest Videos/Line Dances in between singers. Anyways Whenever I click the "Video" button in Hoster on the main screen and go in and Select a video, the video Immediately drops down into my list (as it should) but what takes place next is a little bit concerning.

Hoster for about 7-10 seconds starts to freeze up and the little working icon starts doing something in the background. I think what's happening here is that Hoster is trying to communicate with Windows Media player and process the video into Hoster. (it's just my assumption) since Hoster uses WMP as the "engine" to play music Vvdeos. I've made all of the suggested changes (so I think). So what could be the problem? Anyone ever experience this problem?

My System 2 (again see signature for specs), does the same thing, but only for 3 seconds as opposed to 10. So needless to say last night I was all excited about firing up the New Laptop (as it took me 4 hours to load it all up) and doing the show. Oh Well, at least I had "Old Faithful" ;-)

Help
Frustrated KD/VJ

Re: Just Bought a New Computer -Video Lag Issues

Funny, I just changed my desktop background to a solid color instead of the windows theme and now it appears to load quickly. .. weird.
still would like to know if any of you are experiencing this same problem?

All Windows theme settings should be turned off to basic settings - especially the Aero shouldn't be used. They tend to take up a lot of processing. Very likely that was your culprit.

Talking Re: Just Bought a New Computer -Video Lag Issues

Okay the best solution that appears to have FIXED the problem, is to simply

1. Right Click Personalize
2. Under Basic and High Contrast Themes simply select "Windows Classic"
3. Now my videos immediately load and are available to play right away.

Re: Just Bought a New Computer -Video Lag Issues

Yes that probably is what was causing your problem but I notice you are adding them from the Video button. Have you thought of indexing them in Hoster as kmh files ? By doing this I think you will find they load even quicker plus you can use Hoster's search feature to quickly find an artist or title.
They would still be available to use in other software if needed and the video button would still be able to load them as well.

Changing the theme used to be a suggested change, did you not see that? Or is it not there anymore?

Re: Just Bought a New Computer -Video Lag Issues

No it's there.

Roy.. good suggestion, and I knew that, but prefer to keep my Videos and karaoke separate. i have a good naming convention that works for the Videos so I find them easily.. Thanks anyways though.
