Merge question

I have a dilemma. I recently bought a bunch of new discs & ripped them at home to copy to my show computer. When I got them to the show computer I rebuilt the database & it came up with several duplicate book id numbers. Since the book id is worthless to me, I merged the database...to my understanding this will change the book id's that are duplicates....correct? Well I did the merge, when I tried to bring up the new discs by song name, the song name came up in my search, but when I added it to the playlist, an entirely different song came up. So I started checking other titles that I recently added, same thing, the right song title comes up in the search, but the wrong title comes up in the playlist. So I note the book id of the song I want to play & the song that came up & they are the same? I thought it was supposed to change the id to a new number?

Merge will change duplicate book id (when diskids are different), but it will not merge duplicate diskids.

Guess i'm not understanding that. It will change a duplicate book id but not merge into the database?
What i'm saying is it didn't change the book id number, but merged it into the database with the same book id number as one that was already there. So I now have say 2 songs that I can actively search with 1 book id, they will both come up as each title but if I click the ones that I want, it will bring up the original.

Example in the attachment...well actually the problem of one of the discs I am talking about. The KAR006 disc is the new one. It comes up in the search, but had the same book id as the Star Disc. Now when I rebuilt the database, it didn't add the new disc to the database, but gave me the duplicate book id message & logged it. So I did the merge command as it is supposed to change that book id to a useable number, instead it just added the disc to the database with the same book id number instead of changing it.
It did this with several other discs I just got as well. I know it's my bad for using a separate computer to import with, but I figured it would work out anyway if the duplicate book id would be renumbered instead of just adding it to the database & not being able to use it anyway.

Now I see what you are saying, and it's definately not doing what it should.

What version of Hoster are you running? I think this was an issue when "merge" first came out, but not since, and that was a long time ago.

If you've got 3.321 you can add KMA's to the playlist via the mp3g tab at the top of the playlist. It might be interesting to see if they work properly when added this way.

If you've got Access from Microsoft you can change the book id's, it's a little complicated but it can be done.

I have 3.316 on my show computer & 3.321 on my home computer. This also happened here at home as well when I tried to merge so it isn't an older version issue.
I tried adding via the mp3g tab & I could add it this way & it played. But this isn't how I would prefer. So does the merge not work properly or is it really supposed to change the book id into a useable number if it is a duplicate of a already used number?

It is supposed to change the bookid in your situation. As to why it's not working properly I don't know. I'll try and recreate it on my computer and see if it's a problem for me as well.
