no audio only on hoster in vista laptop

dear friends please help

I have a ASUS Notebook F3 series laptop that had video hoster version 3.316 that has worked ok for the last 8 months. however today when checking some songs i noticed that there was no audio output from hoster.. however when i tried windows media player this played ok and sound fine. when checking sound system on pc both speakers sound in test mode. however thinking that hoster may have been at fault i upgraded to version 3.321 after initially the software removed the old version. after rebuilt data base i found that the new version was just the same as the old. could any one please shed light on this issue as i am not the best cumputer wiz kid by far (Old man really)

heres hoping Zilda

Check all you volume controls. Could be the CD Audio or the WAV audio volume has been turned down.
The difference between 3.316 and 3.321 are background fixes. 3.321 fixed the Vista setup to keep Vista from messing with Hoster. Some people were even losing their KMA files because of the location they were in. Between those two versions some problems with certain MP3/zip formats were fixed too. Nothing was changed in how it looked and no additional features were added.
The next update will be version 4.00 with a lot of new features being added, so keep checking back to watch for the release date.

click the speaker icon next to your clock then click mixer and make sure the slider for Hoster (Hoster has to be open while doing this) is turned up and or Hoster is not muted. Vista seems to allow making different volume adjustments for different programs which is why other programs might not be affected.
