error 0x80040707 during install
I have tried to install Microstudio 4.006 and I keep getting this error message "error 0x80040707". I have searched and followed all the threads, but to no avail! I am running Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba Satellite P205D. This is a new computer that has never had an MTU product installed before. And again I did follow the threads and followed George's suggestions as well as Admin's. I installed .Net framework and "no go".

You need to check the Microsoft Custom Update. There are some patches for .NET framework as well as other updates you might want to install. This is a Windows Installer error that some Windows component is missing or not a correct version.

I just tried to download a fresh 4.006 as well as all the other suggestions and I am still receiving the same errror message. One thing I did notice is that the microstudio icon showed up on my desktop at the same time the error message showed up....so I double clicked the Microstudio icon without closing the error message and Microstudio opened up. As soon as I closed the error message the icon disappeared. I have tried installing as administrator and also in XP compatability mode.
Thank you, and I will look foreward to everyones next words of wisdom. Roger |

Have you tried opening the program from the Start Menu? If that works you can right click on the entry in the menu and create a desktop shortcut.

Thanks to all. I just found the problem. I had .NET Framework 3.0 partially installed along with .NET 2.0. I removed 3.0 entirely and Microstudio is working perfectly!
Thank you, Roger |
