What's Wrong With My Computer?
Microstudio and Songverter have problems on my computer
I'm having sync problems, problems burning kma's created by songverter to disc, noises while playing songverted kma's, and some of my songverted files are played at twice the speed. Finally I was able to load these programs to another computer, and it seems that I don't have these problems. I will kill all other programs if necessary to make this laptop work. Windows XP Professional 2002 Service Pack 2 Processor x86 Family 6 Model13 Stepping 8 Bios 1.24 IBM Intel Pentium 1.73 ghz 504 mb RAM I don't know what most of this stuff means, I got it off the "System" front page and from the "Think Pad Configuration" |

Both programs are currently being tested for fixes to some of the problems that have popped up. Don't know if it will help or not, but can't hurt. What format are your files originally?
One problem you may have with it could be the audio acceleration setting. Try lowering it to standard. That can be done through the DXDIAG command (type that in run) and adjust the audio acceleration down. Also you might check and make sure you have all of the microsoft updates including the ones in "Custom" update. Many times not having those has caused problems. I know there was an update for WMP 11 last week.

At least some problems not fixed.
After loading 4.003 and Songverter 1.001 I still have certain problems on this computer.
This is the most important: After converting bins to kma, Microstudio won't play the kma files without a lot of Tic Tic Tic noise. I can convert wma-g's to KMA, but only after reprocessing the wma portion of the file with gold wave. I like the naming of the files now. Good job So the question remains, What is Wrong With My Computer? |

Are the BIN imports done with the new version or hold overs from the previous version? The major problem is you are running an operating system (Windows 2000) that is out of date and only being supported by Microsoft for critical security updates. If I remember correctly the current WMP won't load on it. I don't know about the latest DirectX (9) or NetFrame. Your best bet would be to look for an OEM copy of XP and upgrade it.

I have XP
I do have XP, not 2000.
KMA conversions from scratch, Bins created using Plextor drive on the other machine and from scratch using bins created by my Memorex drive. KMA naming still does not name the whole name of the file. Playing on this laptop still has unacceptable tic tic noises. So again, what's wrong with my computer? Help anybody? ![]() |

Your WMA+G to KMA conversion problem I can't duplicate as mine work fine. Only thing I can suggest is if you haven't upgraded to Media Player 10 or 11 try that. It has surprisingly cured other audio problems before.

Jahern,
When you get the files into this computer that is causing the Tic, tic, tic noise, are you importing them from the CD Drive or are you copying them from the other computer, that has the Plextor drive? If you are actually importing them into this computer with Microstudio, the drive is making this tic noise, and the only way to fix that is to replace the drive.
