External Sound Card

Hi guys, I'm using Hoster on a HP lap top and I'm coming out of my head phone jack & into my mixer for sound, which actually sounds very good. Was thinking about going to an external sound card, only if the will be a premium difference in sound quality. I don't need 5.1 or 7.1 dolby surround sound, only basic great sounding stereo. I was leaning towards the Sound Blaster MP3+, but being the unit is so cheap, I'm not sure the sound would be any better than my HP's built in sound card. Any one using that or have any better suggestions on what to purchase? Appreciate any input.

Appreciate your honesty. If anyone knows of a high quality external sound card, with RCA outputs, please let me know. Again, I don't need 5.1 or 7.1 dolby surround sound or a unit geared towards headphone or PC computer speakers. I'm playing on a bass thumping 10,000 watt mobile pa system and just want the best sound possible.

in my opinion you be better off just using your internal sound card, i had an external soundcard a soundblaster extagy nothing but problems..humming and buzzing..i even bought a hum/hizz eleminator it helped a bit..don't used it anymore..i now just used the headphone out to my mixing board..1/8 to rca cable..no humming and buzzing..

Well, if you are one of these high-powered DJ's who need 10.000 watts and a clear strong sound, there is a USB sound card called a maya-44 and a ubdj46. Might be a lil off on the exact names. But they are for the pro's and cost about 200 bucks. You will like 'em.

I think it's all in the speakers and the mixer. I have 2 systems. One has a 2,000 watt and one is a 300 watt amp. I can't tell much of a sound differance between the two. I am running the same kind of speakers and mixer on both systems.
