Question Computer will not start up

Used the Hoster software this morning. Shut computer down. Tried to start up this evening. Got message that Windows did not start properly. Gave me several options to try (DOS screen) such as Safe Mode, SAfe Mode with networking, Start in last know configuration that worked, and Start Windows normally. None of these options worked. Unplugged power, took the battery out, put back in, and restarted. Got the same messages. I have the original OS disc that I got when I bought the computer from MTU. Can I reinstall the XP OS without losing info on the hard drive, or does it need to go to the computer Dr.?
Thanks

i had the same thing happen to me, and re-installed the os, worked for a while, then started happening again and the last time it happened i was getting ready to do a show.. luckily i had a back-up..but anyway i was told the reason why it happened was that my hardrive went bad..i ended up replacing my hardrive ..by doing that i lost all my files..

If that is happening by all means take it to a repair shop. They have ways to get the files from the drive...at least the ones not sitting in a bad location on the drive.
