Hoster screen flashing on & off with 3.313

Upgraded to 3.313 and now the main Hoster screen goes blank and then comes back on when the lyric screen changes to the next page. Not everytime but nearly with every page change. Also lyrics page backround goes white, you lose half the words, then everything comes back normal again. Restored to prior version and everything works just fine again. Any help would be appreciated, or has someone else had this problem!
Thanks

HP Notebook
80 GB HD
QUE External HD
MS Version - XP Home SP2 on both computers with this problem.

This has not been reported by others.

1. Make sure your Windows is fully updated.

2. Make sure your video card drivers are fully updated also.

Post back here either a success or failure to fix this.

It may be something in Hoster, but since no one else is reporting it, it may be related to your system (hardware AND software).

Yes, I am experiencing the MAIN Hoster screen having to REDRAW every time the SEARCH BOX is Closed.

It's worse if you bring another program up and, then, click on Hoster to bring it to the FRONT.

This happens on both, MATROX and ATI Video Card Systems.

It, also, takes too much time to add Songs, move Songs, select Songs, and Delete Songs from the Playlist.

Feel like I'm in slow motion.

Went back to 3.312 no problems with the aforementioned.

I only noticed a slow redraw when the Search dialog covered the Hoster control screen, and the slowness was only when a song was playing (i.e. the Preview window was active). Otherwise, redraw was instantaneous when Search dialog covered it and was closed.

While playing and not playing (V3.313) I added, moved, selected and deleted songs in the playlist and didn't see any slowdown at all. There may be some video setting you have that is causing this delay.

Anyone else have an idea what it could be?

I have experienced the issue GD123 described

I recently upgraded to 3.313 and noticed the slowness issue GD123 mentioned switching between songs at a Christmas rehersal today at a school. Nothing else has changed on the machine so I believe that there is some subtle problem occurring in this version.

I can agree that there is something that has changed in 3.313. The problem is we don't have enough info to create it at MTU. Until we do, to TRY and find out what changed could take weeks of time, or sheer luck in finding the cause. There is a lot of code changes from 3.312 to 3.313, and just doing a "Diff" to view all the changes would take days of very tedious work. It is not feasible.

I hear that there is a problem with some of your systems.

We need facts... and I don't even know what to ask for. There is something different in your computers than ours at MTU. It really doesn't matter that 3.312 is fine and 3.313 exhibits this problem on your systems. Until we can identify what it is in your system that 3.313 is interacting with, we can't fix it.

I DEFINITELY want to identify what it is. But as I said in a prior post, our LEAD PROGRAMMER already looked at it, following the steps gd123 listed (and Bob Moore verified that it does it on his M8's system too), but it doesn't show up on our systems. That is a requirement for us to fix this type of problem.

SO... let's see some posts of...

* What other programs are running

* What Windows you are running

* etc....

When enough folks experiencing this problem post facts about their system, then a pattern will start to evolve. We have solved this type of problem before with this technique. Also, someone might post that little tid-bit they almost didn't, and it turns out to be the key that solves the puzzle.

I have tried everything except trying to copy a CD while a song is playing. I have done every other test that you people are having a problem with. I pulled up other programs and also did the add two songs start the first one clicked on second hit stop and then play and no problem there either.
I know I have a much newer machine then some of you out there. I am also running a Desktop as well so that I will not have memory problems and when I need to upgrade I can do it with ease.

What type of systems is everyone running on that are having these problems? What type of Processor, how much RAM, what type of Video card? I think everyone with the problems should post their systems. Maybe the code changes might not be compatible with some of the video cards. Saying that it did it on your buddies computer the problem is how old is your buds computer? what type of video card, how much RAM, which windows, was it on one song, 2 songs, every song, did it start after so many songs were played? As a game programmer myself I know the more info I get from my players the more I can do to fix problems :p Give them everything you can folx Also run Task Manager and see how much processor and RAM is being used by your computer as Hoster is running. I have tried EVERYTHING I could to make the rewrite slow or to cause the stop/play problem and everything I have tried didn't do anything that you have had problems with. I also tried to max out my CPU with running Madden, running SAM2 party DJ along with SAM Broadcaster. Still no problems with lag or rewrite problems.

The system I run is in my sig.. compare and see if maybe something with Hoster and your system might not be working together?

I have noticed this too, on a brand new shuttle dual core 2,4gHz, 2 gig ram, 256 bit 256 mb ram video card.
The top of the line, almost. 500 gB HD 7200 rpm Seagate internal.

Not sure this is what we are talking about, but,.....I have always had a Excell copy of my song book that I keep on my computer. Have it tab by Artist, Title, Songs that I sing, etc. This has always been up and in the background. Someone maybe singing a song and I would bring up the excell sheet to say find a song someone was having trouble with. (I know Hoster has a search engine but sometimes it's quicker and easier for me to use my old excell.)

When I would go from the excell spreadsheet back into Hoster there was never a problem. NOW, when I switch from excell to Hoster, it's like the screen has to re-write in slow motion as Hoster starts appearing at the top of the screen and writes it's way down the page.

My old Prostar computer from MTU (1 gig ram) has never had this problem with the older version of Hoster. It does now. I just recently bought a new Dell as a back up that also has Hoster. It is the new dual core and has 2 gig of ram and it does the same thing.

None of this causes any performance problems with Hoster. The music nor does the graphics ever cause a glitch. It's just annoying and somewhat time consuming waiting on Hoster to re-write it's self back on the screen.

Kelly, you put it in better words than I did, but mine is doing the same thing except it disrupts the singers screen, and rewrite that whole Hoster screen when the song playing changes to the next page of words. Occasionally it will change the singers page to white with black letters, some missing, then go back to color and play fine. Two newer HP laptops, both working with prior version, both doing the same thing with new version 3.313. Revert back to old version 3.312 and everything works fine again.
