I recently used the freedb database to import Sound Choice spotlight 8882, which is an Eric Clapton compilation. The data imported accurately, but the cd brand name changed to Eric Clapton. If I tried to change it to "Sound Choice", it reimported all as "unknown". Is this an isolated occurence?

I split this Post out to a new separate Thread as it deserves its own "life".

I'd like to hear if anyone else sees this or similar problems. The logic to make FreeDB downloads fill in our fields, and yet provide all the error checking we have... is quite a challenge. We may have some work yet to do here.

Any thoughts on keeping this database from MTU updated? When I purchased this program I had no Idea there would be so many missing discs. I hope Free DB can help. This is enough work already to get loaded.

Not only is the built-in database not up-to-date, but it has many errors and inconsistencies. Has anyone tried to import songs from Queen and they imported as Queen Latifah? I around 20 or 30 of these that I had to fix.

Personally, I have given up on databases. I bought KJPRO and cut and paste for all the latest disks. The database Hoster has is really quite good. Most of the entries for disks over 2 years old, are correct. While there may be a few problems. Remember, Manuf. sometimes change the songs on a disk. I have 2 sets of the sound choice foundations, and Both have added, and deleted songs on the same disks.

Check chartbuster, their own database is incorrect in about 15% of the cases. It is hard for someone to continually keep it right.

Gduns have you tried the "other" database Song List Creator from Airwer? They boast 100,000 list and free updates. Program cost is same as KJPro. Curious to know how good they are. As you say though even the manufacturers can't keep an accurate list of their own discs.

I have both, I don't like airwer. It is based in the UK, so it has a lot of cdg's we don't have. It was hit & miss most of the time. The kjpro is the best out there.
