Question CD Drives Not reading files as CDG

I have 5 laptops & just finished upgrading them all to Hoster 3.3. On 3 laptops, Hoster recognises the previously unusable CD Drives & reads CDG files into a playlist. On 2 laptops, I get the message that Hoster has to shut down & the option to report a problem to microsoft.

The ones that won't work are;
Sony Vaoi - Drive recognised as MATSHITA UJ-810
Compaq Presario 3000 - Drive recognised as TEAC DW-224E

Does anyone else have these drive types & if so are they reading CDGs with Hoster 3.3?

Admin - Are you still enhancing the driver to work with some of these drives that are still having problems reading as CDG drives?

We are working on making the imported files have less graphic "clutter", but don't expect anything to change what drives will work. The MMC interface we now use is something the drive supports or not. If a drive doesn't work now, it probably won't later.

The Teac drive seems to be used in quit a few laptops. Lets try to figure out a way to fix them. Driver? Firmware?

The Teac latop drives that I have tried the software on, seem to not working for some reason. They will give you a black screen with no audio.

Is this what you are getting?

If you are this is BAD, no way to make it work.

If the drive gives the audio and a flickering, blue to black screen, it might be fixable at some time.

When I try to import with my Teac drive, Hoster closes without any error at all. I can restart and everything works fine. I can plug in my Plextor USB and it imports fine. Try the Teac and Hoster just closes. It seems funny that it just closes without any error at all.

I have not tried to import disks with the Teac. I do all of my importing on my Desktop & then copy to the laptop.

When I try to read a CDG song into a Hoster Playlist, I get the little window that comes up to show progress, but, almost immediately I get the Windows error that Hoster must close & asked if I want to report the error to Microsoft.

The Matchita in my Sony does the same thing.

I am going to try to update the firmware. I also need to verify whether these have ever been brought up to SP2. I rarely ever hook them up to the internet so updating windows doesn't always happen. Is there any chance that this may be the problem?

My HP NC6000 that I use for shows is completely up to date. Windows XP Home SP2, and before that all HP updates. There hasn't been any firmware updates for the Teac DW-244E-A. I am not sure if it supports the MMC interface. I too, convert all my CDG's to KMA on my test computer and transfer them to my laptop. It would just be nice to use the Teac for customer discs instead of lugging around the USB Plextor.
It is still so much better than lugging around all those discs.

Thanks again MTU,

Mark
