Edit Genre list in Hosting

Is there a way to edit the genre listing in hosting. More choices then I need.

I want to delete about 3/4 of the ones in the list. I don't need many to choose from. Can you add to the list?

I guess it's OK if I can't make the list shorter, but I would like to add "Italian"
to it. I was surprised not to find it. Why not have the ability to simply type in the genre we want?

We have been working for over a year to find a way to make Genre editable (not that many hours, but over that time period). Hoster's KMA file header currently is a 1-byte pointer into our preset table that is limited in size. Thus, we cannot allow editing the Genre.

We are working towards Hoster 4.0 to release in 2007 (no idea when yet). It will have to modify all KMA Files it is aware of (via the Build Songs Database command). The change will allow the Genre to be stored in a text field within the Header for each song. Once this is finished and proven safe, we can allow you to edit the Genre field to put in anything you want, and it will never again be limited by Hoster or MTU. Also, Genre that are currently in our list, but not used in your KMA files, would AUTOMATICALLY NOT APPEAR.

Where a Genre dropdown list is now (Import, Edit Songs, SongBook, etc.), we will build it from our current preset names AND entries found in your Songs Database, which holds what you enter. Thus, once one KMA file has "Italian", then it appears in all lists from then on (unless all KMA files with Italian are deleted).

This is the solution you want. I commit that it is coming in 4.0. You will be able to search for (Edit Songs dialog box) and change any existing Genre you want.

FYI: There will be an upgrade price for 4.0, so expect this.

I'm surprised and pleased that this issue has remained on your back-burner.

Your solution will be fine.
